Well I hear a voice of faith
Resonate a belief in choice
With no way to escape

It's a ploy
To weaken the
Sense of joy
And bury us

Seperates the good of evil
Placing shame on helpless people
Stabbing hate infectious needles
Shallow forces spreading seeds will

Feed the flame
Of ignorance
Takes away
Our freedom to say!

I will not fall for you!
No!
No!

Well I see a fingers' point
But not that use
Ostracizing noise
With a narrow view

It's okay the
Rest of us
Heal the pain
Now we're free to say!

I will not fall for you!

Separate yourself from all of the hating people
Who want to take you down

Say
- I will!
I will
- I will not!
I will not
- Fall for you!
Fall for you

Separate yourself from all of the hating people
Who want to take you down

Ooh
Ooh
Oo-ooh

Say!
Say!
Say!
I will not fall for you!

    Song Meaning

To me this song is about not falling for religion.

Well I hear a voice of faith Resonate a belief in choice With no way to escape

(About how religious beliefs restrict people in todays society from making choices based on themselves.)

Separates the good of evil Placing shame on helpless people Stabbing hate infectious needles Shallow forces spreading seeds will

(Breaking down religions overall purpose while disagreeing with its rules and restrictions.)

I Will Not Fall For You

I am not religious but this is one of a few songs with religious connotations by taproot. Not that I am complaining but it is a pleasant change from the usual taproot subject matter of girlfriend/boyfriend troubles (makes me think of my X too much.)

Love it though, Rock On Taproot!

Techno Ted

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
