Sarah Goldfarb, Where Are Your Manners? Lyrics

Her hair is tangled between my finger tips
On sudden shame I pulled her body to the floor
She sang a throat song chorus of "I love you"
Sha sang a throat chorus
You look so clean but your dressed to fit this scene
innocence??? Innocence???
(my mouth peels back in laughter)
You are a virgin, you are a taken liar

The angels hair is hanging on to stretched and fraying skin
In quiet defeat I dragged her body to my bed

She hums a throat song chorus of "I love you"
She spits up verse s but the words get lost in exhaustion

You look so pretty with my skin touching yours
You've only got eyes for me now.
You've only got time for me now.
You've only got eyes for me now
and you know how blind I am without you
The angels hair is cutting lines across her cheeks
With all my strength I make her love me
She tastes like summer and smells like romance
She breathes no throat song chorus
but I move her lips to form the words "I love you"
I taste her lips and I know she loves me

The title of the song has nothing to do with the actual song, but the title is a reference to Requiem for a Dream.

This song is wow. To me this song is about a guy who is basically obsessed with making this girl love him.

When he goes “In quiet defeat I dragged her body to my bed” It means that he is about to rape her, he grabbed her and maybe he knocked her out…which would explain the “in quiet defeat”

She then wakes up, on his bed and she knows he is about to do something to her, possibly rape. She is begging him to stop. “She hums a throat song chorus of "I love you" She spits up verse s but the words get lost in exhaustion”, He is choking her…and she is just repeating I love you, hoping he’ll stop but he doesn’t.

”You look so pretty with my skin touching yours. You've only got eyes for me now” he is raping her. I think the reason why he did is because she cheated on him, “You’ve only got eves for me now”

“She breathes no throat song chorus but I move her lips to form the words "I love you" I taste her lips and I know she loves me” She is dead, he is a twisted guy.

The person who commented last has pretty much got it all, I just wanted to post this saying that this is one of my favorite Fear Before songs, and is ridiculously underrated.

Its not about rape, thanatophilia prevents it from being that simple. Its about obsession. The protagonist doesn't have sex with the victim until after he has killed. The song is about a person who is deeply obsessed with a girl who doesn't care for him, and "With all my strength I make her love me"...After she is dead he has total control of her, she is and does exactly what he wants now.

"move her lips to form the words 'I love you.'"

One thing that's always bothered me about this song is that the printed lyrics do not match what is actually sung in the recorded version of the song.

In the beginning of the song it sounds like they are whispering "I'm coming up behind you" 5 times then followed by more whispers that are drown out by the singing.

Anybody know what is actually being said?

It sounds like a lot of things being said. But I hear "behind you" definately.
