If you guys notice, most of the rest of the songs are narriations, and he comes right out in this song and says,"Don't you see? I'm the narrator, and this is just the prologue" and he also says, "I aim to be, your eyes".

And he adresses his audience by calling them "trophy boys" and "trophy wives", and telling them that he will tell his stories, or "shake it up", if we, the audience, is "prepared to listen".

As for the title, he is saying that they way people precieve an event is all based upon the way it is displayed on the evening news. He is saying, don't trust what the media says, find out for ourself. Form your own opinions and observations.

Hence a death may either be a "martyrdom" or a "suicide", but the way it is reported and the evidence presented holds "a grain in the balance" and the scale could tip either way to influence your opinion. And how can you be so sure that suicide wasen't a Martyrdom? Whats stopping the reporters from minipulating and distorting information so make a sotry more interesting.

People often dont look into Panic! at the Disco as they should be looked into. They jusy dismiss them as being sold out and mainstream.

But for God's sake, just glance into the song titles and see their insights instead of hearing Sins and Tragedies on the radio once and forming your opinons.

I don't really think this matters, but in case anyone cares, Pete from Fall Out Boy wrote the "Trophy Boys, Trophy Wives" line.

Okay I just graduated from High School and I reference the "I'm the Narrator and this is just the prologue" line of this song because to me this song is about being young "still so young, desperate for attention" and feeling like you want to shake things up in your life but you need someone to listen. But it's during this time of our lives when we're out there trying to experience everything we can that we realize that things are not always what we imagine them to be (trophy wives, who are ust for show and artists who are not what they seem) this reminds me of all the bad pop music and bad drug experiences that young people go through.

When I first heard this song I thought finally, a song on the radio that is actually saying something. That's no ordinary title of a song, its length alone demands attention of which it got mine. It's a direct criticism of how the media can paint a picture of any situation, for better or worse thus "It seems the artists these days are not what you think".

The line, "I aim to be your eyes, trophy boys, trophy wives" is basically talking about how a lot of artists only focus on being popular, to the "trophy", cool/mainstream people of the world, so they sell some records.

I usually don't care for most popular songs on the radio, but I think there needs to be a voice of reason from time to time on there, of which this song was. It calls out those who are "still so young and desperate for attention", how attention and publicity seem to have taken precedence over an artist's true intention, ie - someone choosing to commit suicide out of sorrow being turned into martyrdom by the media. I think of Ian Curtis and Kurt Cobain.
