In My Secret Place Lyrics
time swings like a wrecking ball into things
youth fades as quickly as a hit parade
but as the days go by in the gray world outside
days grow on colorful trees in my secret place
they'll sell you tickets for their carousel
don't pay - they'll get your money either way
you can go up and go down
you can go 'round and 'round
but there's a better fairground
youth fades as quickly as a hit parade
days grow on colorful trees in my secret place
don't pay - they'll get your money either way
you can go 'round and 'round
but there's a better fairground

This is one of my favorite songs. It's a shame that nobody has commented on it.
This song is about seeing the beauty within yourself, while the world is miserable cold and gray, and even when it tries to be flashy and distracting.
The singer sees that everything around him is fading, and that the true beauty is within himself. In the second half of the song, the message is the same, knowing that even if the outside world if flashy and pretty - it is still robbing you. The only true, lasting, beauty comes from within his heart.
Oh my. I would have never thought it that way! Nicely done!
This is probably my favorite song of all time.
The world can be a tough place to live, with greed and evil lurking in the shadows, and sometimes to make it through you need a place to go, whether it's a physical place, or a place in your mind.
Or maybe it's just about drugs and sex.
