I love this song. I'm not exactly sure what it means, but no one else is posing anything, and Magnetic Fields rocks, but what can you do? The public is so confused.
"You didn't need them, your sunday friends and so you watched them like grains of sand running one by one out of your hands softly falling... " This shows amazing strength. Most people (myself included) need other people. Some people actually HAVE to have people with them, all the time, or they won't function. In this song, however, a stronger feeling is shared.

I interpret this as someone becoming more and more withdrawn. He isn't sharing his feelings anymore (gave up crying, except seemingly when alone) and he's losing his friends because of it.
