"cowardness" should be "cowardice."
Break-up song. Duh.
It is a break up song and as it seems for me the title isn't accurate.
Hmm, maybe the title means the singer feels his love and happiness has been stolen by the thief. Or something.
you have to understand that matt thiessen (the lead singer of relient k, if you didn't know) has a certain element of sarcastic nature in almost all serious songs (that don't involve God, that is) so chances are that, although it may have been about a break-up, he's probably writing the song in a sarcastic manner...like he's saying that he really doesn't care.
i think this is a song about his relationship with God. they've broken up. i also think the title is accurate. this may be a stretch, but theif has multiple meanings. A less well known one is an imperfection in the wick of a candle. the wick holds the flame or light. since God is sometimes refered to as light, i think matt is saying he's an imperfect Christian. he's so lost that he doesn't know if God will come back to him again. He has to make more effort now.
