A long flight Lyrics

wrap those feathers like a blanket over me
throw my bones into the belly of the deep
whisper through my walky talky
"i am ready"
but i was not prepared for flight
wipe the shadows from my mind
i was not prepared to die

This song reminds me of a lullaby and it is a very powerful song, my favorite, we tried to get them to play it in New Glasgow, but they didn't comply.. This to me, reminds me of being young, wishing to grow up and suddenly when you shift to being older.. You wish you had the time as a child back.. because you weren't prepared for the hardships adulthood brings.. and now, instead of being young and preparing for adulthood.. We are adults preparing for death.

Like the wings of a dove, folding around, i fade into this tender care.....

I agree with Flamacue as well, but I can't get the image of Icarus out of my head. It seems like this could be Icarus looking back on his demise... his father "wrapped those feathers like a blanket" around him, the "belly of the deep" could be the water he plummeted into. I feel it is a side of Icarus' story we haven't heard before, as if he wasnt willingly prepared for his 'flight', here also meaning 'death'. Very poetic.
