This song was written by the band to vent their spleens on all the hangers-on that successful bands attract. It tells of their frustration at giving 10% to this guy, 5% to another and at end of the day having handed out all their profits to the 'machine'. It also responds to the critical pasting the band took from music magazine writers who thought it was cool to lag the band.
definately one of the best songs ever written... sweet is sooooo underated, tho. they deserve to have waaaaay more fame than they got. they were way ahead of their time. definately better than the stones and bealtes, wich were some of the greatest bands ever. i think that we sould try and accept them again.
The Sweet is definately underrated, I can agree with you on that sarayastar. But don't say they are better than the Beatles. I'm sorry, but that's like saying you are an idiot. I think the second verse is very good for some reason.
This song kicks so much ass. I agree that Sweet is underrated, and over the years they've become on of my favorite bands, but I can't say they're better than The Beatles.
Oh, and you guys have heard Def Leppard's cover of this, right? I think they did a really good job on the cover. I love it almost as much as the original. The song just works so well for both the Sweet and Def Leppard sounds.
