I think this song is about an ex girlfriend who he can't seem to get off his mind of "off his skin". Now that I've written it down, it doesn't sound right, but I'm still going to stick with it. Some self injury could be involved in the "I will cut my skin for days on end"... maybe?

I think this song is about mental illness, depression and the like. Im not sure whether it's darren's own story, or if it's written from an outside point of view. The line 'The chemical change in me turns everything blue" is a reference to chemical changes in the brain that cause depression, or being 'blue'. Scrubbing skin for days on end could relate to being obsessive compulsive, and the 'The voices taunt me and take me all the way down, They took my body and beat it to the ground' line means he had no control over his body as it was taken over by voices in his head and he hurt himself. I could be wrong, but to me, this song screams mental illness. Awesome song.

i believe it is about mental diseases away possibly the one wear u hear voices that put u down another possibility is that he has done something horrible and cannot seem to make himself feel clean of the horrific thing he has done

this song is definitely about mental illness. it says: 'the chemical change in me...'- a simple chemical imbalance in the body can result in mental illness. and the lyrics describe voices and cutting skin, all symptons. the chorus describes him as scrubbing his skin to cleanse himself but whatever it is he's trying to get rid of is 'stuck'. it's like he knows there's something wrong but he doesnt know how to fix it. or else he's scared to admit he has a problem and hence, wont seek help. this is sad since many illnesses are easily treatable. the lines: 'and i have done worse things before, so shut me up' gives me the feeling that he thinks he can handle his problem. either that or hes refusing to face up to the magnitude of the situation, but im not sure... neverthemore, this is a great song!! its good to know someone is realising and educating our society on mental illness- not nearly enough is known about the issue!
