Final Solution Lyrics
The girls won't touch me
Cos I've got a misdirection
Living at night isn't helping my complexion
The signs all saying it's a social infection
A little bit of fun's never been an insurrection
Mamma threw me out till I get some pants that fit
She just won't approve of my strange kind of wit
I get so excited, always gotta lose
Man that send me off
Let them take the cure
Don't need a cure
Need a final solution
Buy me a ticket to a sonic reduction
Guitars gonna sound like a nuclear destruction
Seems I'm a victim of natural selection
Meet me on the other side, another direction
Don't need a cure
Need a final solution
Cos I've got a misdirection
Living at night isn't helping my complexion
The signs all saying it's a social infection
A little bit of fun's never been an insurrection
She just won't approve of my strange kind of wit
I get so excited, always gotta lose
Man that send me off
Let them take the cure
Need a final solution
Guitars gonna sound like a nuclear destruction
Seems I'm a victim of natural selection
Meet me on the other side, another direction
Need a final solution

This song dates back I believe to when David Thomas was in Rocket From the Tombs and it shares characteristics thematically with Sonic Reducer, another song from this period that ended up being used by other members of the group when they formed the Dead Boys. It's about being rejected by every one and needing a solution. The last verse I believe is about going to see a concert and wanting to be in a band as far as I can tell. It's my favorite Ubu song.
he doesn't fit with those around him. but he doesn't need to change, they just need to die. good song!!!
Its really odd that Pere Ubu originally did "Sonic Reducer", since Ubu has their own wierd post-punk sound, while "Sonic Reducer" is a straightforward punk song.
I believe this is about a teenager who is tired of constant change - puberty - and just wants to understand himself and be happy. He has no idea what would allow this to happen for him, and he is looking for, as they say, a “permanent (final) fix to a temporary problem”, but teenagers have no perspective.
If there really is a god in heaven, on the day we finally destroy ourselves with nuclear weapons, this song will be playing, LOUDLY, as the FIREBALLS are rolling down your street and taking everyone with them lol…
As long as I’m fantasizing, I want it so that as soon as David Thomas sings the word “Guitars gonna sound like a Nuclear Destruction”, and all we hear is the vacuum “created” by the bombs/chain reaction, at that very SECOND, ALL pain and sorrow will be banished forever lol
@force263 Oh, I forgot to include in my post, but, we WILL, ABSOLUTELY, destroy ourselves. It won’t be tomorrow, won’t be next month, won’t be next year. But it’s gonna happen…

Just wait until the effects of climate change are in the faces of those still alive, and can no longer be ignored… THEN look the fuck out. There will be a “new world order”. And the official World Language will be Chinese…
