Hanging Around Lyrics
Big girl in the red dress
She's just trying to impress us
And she's got the barley fever
But she doesn't make a sound
She's just hanging around
She's just hanging around
Down the court road early
With the Hustlers big and burly
There's a million of 'em selling
And the buyers can be found
They're just hanging around
They're just hanging around
[Chorus]
Christ he told his mother
Christ he told her not to bother
Cos he's alright in the city
Cos he's high above the ground
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
One of 'em comes over
Got a monkey on his shoulder
And the monkey's getting grinner
But his eyes are on the ground
He's just hanging around
He's just hanging around
I move into The Coleherne
With the leather all around me
And the sweat is getting steamy
But their eyes are on the ground
They're just hanging around
They're just hanging around
[Chorus: x2]
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around
She's just trying to impress us
And she's got the barley fever
But she doesn't make a sound
She's just hanging around
She's just hanging around
With the Hustlers big and burly
There's a million of 'em selling
And the buyers can be found
They're just hanging around
They're just hanging around
Christ he told his mother
Christ he told her not to bother
Cos he's alright in the city
Cos he's high above the ground
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
He's just hanging around (hanging around)
Got a monkey on his shoulder
And the monkey's getting grinner
But his eyes are on the ground
He's just hanging around

With the leather all around me
And the sweat is getting steamy
But their eyes are on the ground
They're just hanging around
They're just hanging around
He's just hanging around

It's " im moving in the colehern with the leather all around me", the coleherne was a pub,a gay leather bar in earls court
Lyrics are wrong. Should be "Christ he's old as mother, christ he;'s old enough to bother."
The majority of the Google search disagrees with you bearhunter. The ones written by Boss Man make more sense as well I'm afraid! Every Google hit seems to think that it's Christ has told his mother.
The lyrics are right they make sense don't dispute them!
They're not 100% accurate. The line isn't "I'm moving to a coleheme" , it's "I'm moving in The Coleherne" . It's a pub in Earls Court which during the 70's and 80's was a well known leather bar.

its a grate song cant we just leave it at that?
From one from the time - hanging around, nothing to do except drugs - sniffing glue, poor man's drugs - just love hangin' around
dunno but 'monkey on his shoulder' got something to do with drugs, didnt know it was about glue though, never had a penchant for glue :/
one of them comes closer not over, listening to it now
If you listen to any live recording of this song the words are quite clearly Christ he told his mother Christ he told her not to bother
