I Feel Like the Mother of the World Lyrics
Whether or not there is any type of god
I’m not supposed to say
And today
I don’t really care
God is a word
And the argument ends there
Oh do I feel like the mother of the world
With two children
Oh do I feel like the mother of the world
With two children fighting
When I was a boy I used to get into it bad
With my sister
And when the time came to face the truth
There’d only be tears and sides
Tears and sides
And my mother my poor mother
Would say it does not matter
It does not matter
Just stop fighting
Oh do I feel like the mother of the world
With two children
I’m not supposed to say
And today
I don’t really care
And the argument ends there
With two children
Oh do I feel like the mother of the world
With two children fighting
With my sister
And when the time came to face the truth
There’d only be tears and sides
Tears and sides
And my mother my poor mother
Would say it does not matter
It does not matter
Just stop fighting
With two children

“I came up with the title. I wasn’t even sure what it meant. It turned into the gentlest anti-war song, because anti-war songs can be so overbearing. I wanted to write something that made it everyday, commonplace.” -Bill Callahan
it's definitely one of my favorite anti-war songs ever. classy, too.
Wow, so cool. I had no idea... Thanks for the info!

First Smog song I heard. Still my favorite.
brilliant.
Man, I certainly agree with you guys.
I tried deciphering this one on my own, and that quote clears it up totally. I had my suspicions it was along those lines, but I wasn't super sure.
The line I belt out the loudest is 'God is a word and the argument ends there'. That is all that needs to be said, the only energy used in a goddish argument.
simple but so powerful!!
What I'm hearing is "tears and sighs, tears and sighs."
