There You Are: Jesus Song No. 7 Lyrics

There you are
And you stand in the rain
And the rain fills your brain
And it makes you think that God
Was fucked up when he made this town
There you stand
With your bleeding hands
And you don't understand
Why you work so goddamn hard
To be anything at all

There you are
And you drive in your car
And you wish for the stars
And you end up face down in the road
Dead as fuck

This song to me is about living in a town you hate, working a shitty job, and then dying. Great song! That life is just that. You live somewhere, you work a job you do not like and then no matter what you do, death is something that comes when it comes. No music, no great movie death ending, just death.

I think you're right.

Except when he dies, the beautiful music starts.

Seems fairly straightforward... but in really raw, beautiful kind of way... really hits you once the vocals are done.

It seems like a Lips thing sometimes, to present a sinking sort of hopelessness, but then accent it with that sad-smile vibe that things'll work out... or that everything's messed up, but that's all right...
