God Walks Among Us Now: Jesus Song No. 6 Lyrics

How does it feel to be breaking apart
Breaking down molecules
How does it feel to out of control
Another ring around this ball
Used to be all right
But things got strange

How does it feel to be falling apart
Sinking from the bottom down
It's not so easy holding it up
With everything falling down

Used to be all right
But things got strange
Used to take all night
But things've changed
And God walks among us now

Used to be all right
But things got strange
Used to be uptight
But things've changed
And God walks among us now

How does it feel to be falling apart
With everything breaking down
How does it feel to be falling apart
Imagine how holding on

this song is about in the late 80's, supposedly, OKC got all overtly "religious" and ghost-town-like churches sprang up everywhere and Jesus's name was all over the place. Whether these people were genuine or not, who knows; but I heard that this is what Wayne is talking about.

This song kicks ass. Love the dissonant guitar noise and distortion.

To Whiffet:

If you read the liner notes in the cd version, you'll see Wayne talking about his detachment from his religious teaching around 17. Ten years later, he started to seek out some spirtuality, which is what this whole album, this song in particular is about.

I think the baby crying in the beginning sets this up to be one of their best.
