Jimmy Gets High

I must confess, I'm a real life wired (?) It's actually "real live wire".

I think this song might be someone who has depression and uses drugs to take away the pain? I could be wrong though.

after listening to James Blunt's 'So Long, Jimmy', I can't help but think that they are both singing about the same person... Jim Morrison (lizzard king... Lead singer of the doors) Jim Morrison died over a drug overdose many many many years ago, so yeah, just a thought that it may be a tribute of some kind to him

but i also saw something on TV not so long ago, were Daniel Powter was saying something about this being his life before he got into music, so he might be singing about himself, i don't know, my memory wasn't too clear on the TV show. lol

I agree, Daniel has said that he was addicted to coke for 8 years so this song could be about him. "Daniel Gets High?"

This is such a great song.. and I like how it's not all sad and depressing it just like.. says it, It just conveys some strong emotions. I love the line "Jimmy you know, everybody hates you when you're living off rock 'n roll " I don't know why but that's a great line to me. It's like everyone hates what he does and he knows it but he can't help it. And maybe these people care about him but he can't see that they care about him. He just sees it as they hate him.

This song is good. A famous man (rock n roll star probably) named "Jimmy" is lonely. He takes drugs to get high to get away from the pain of it all. His friend who is commentating on him states that "he's a real live wire" and that he and him go way back as friends. Jimmy is confused and gets high all the time which makes his friend worry about him. This is just my opinion though. Great song.

wow, im really impressed with daniel powter as a musician. i really thought that "bad day" was a fluke. a good song, but just one of those songs that gets played out easily, and u dont really listen to any of the guys other songs. i was wrong. this song cud apply to so many rock n roll stars...i love that line:

"everybody hates you when you're living off rock n roll"
