Mississippi Girl Lyrics
Well it's a long way from Star, Mississippi
To the big stage I'm singing on tonight
And sometimes the butterflies still get me
When I'm in the spotlight
And some people seem to think that I've changed
That I'm different than I was back then
But in my soul I know that I'm the same way
That I've really always been
[Chorus:]
Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways
Just cause everybody knows her name
Ain't big-headed from a little bit of fame
I still like wearing my old ball cap
Ride my kids around piggy back
They might know me all around the world
But y'all I'm still a Mississippi girl
Well I spent a few weeks in California
And put my face on the big movie screen
But that don't mean I've forgotten where I came from
That's just me chasing dreams, yeah
[Chorus:]
Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways
Just cause everybody knows her name
Ain't big headed from a little bit of fame
I still like wearing my old ball cap
Ride my kids around piggy back
They might know me all around the world
But y'all I'm still a Mississippi girl
Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways
Just cause everybody knows her name
Ain't big headed from a little bit of fame
I still like wearing my old ball cap
Ride my kids around piggy back
They might know me all around the world
But y'all I'm still a Mississippi girl
Mississippi girl
oohh

I think this is one of the greatest come back songs ever. John Rich (of Big & Rich) wrote this specifically for Faith, and it perfectly illustrates her life. The first time I heard this song I knew it would be a hit, its awesome. PLus I love her hair in the video, say bye bye to blonde.
I love this song!! I just hope the radios dont overplay it so I get sick of it as I have in the past with other songs...But I agree with cdncowgirl
this song is the best!!!! i love her hair in it. she looks asowme keep goin faith
faith hill's voice is amazing! now even though i am not from mississippi and im from sc i LOVE this song! just like everone else who commented on this song i love her hair in the music video too!!!!!!!!!!! lol
I really like this song. I'm not from Mississippi either, but I like replacing it with my homestate. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a try. :)
Not just John writing it. A great songwriter by the name of Adam Shoenfeld (who also happens to play with Big & Rich as well)cowrote it. I have to make sure to give Adam his credit because he's an awesome guy and musician. I attended the party for this song and got to meet Faith Hill. Very sweet, down to earth woman. Just wish Tim McGraw had been there as well for some eye candy!
