I met Anton last week and asked him what this song was about, he said that none of his songs are about specific relationships, just a feeling
at the end of dig, anton puts down the dandeys and remarks how you just have to look at his lyrics. i disagree. his lyrics alone are not that profound or deep....however his songs have such depth because he communicates through his music and chords which is an amazing ability....this song is an example of that, "nevertheless" is another prime example.
The first 45 seconds of this song is why I love rock & roll. F'ing amazing.
maybe it's about a feeling not specidied by how you feel about a certain person but definitely it is about feelings beeing disappointing. could be about yourself not being able to make final decisions and then pondering about and regretting that
