I thing this is pretty obvious this song is about political and economical situation all around the world.

Corrupted politicians make promises which they not gonna abide. There are lot of "stupid" goods which noone really use for something meaningful, noone really needs them but still lot of people buy them. Massproduction, Overproduction.
