Binary Love Lyrics
Don't you ever pretend
That we are more than friends?
Despite the metal and wires
I still have human desires
I'll wait here til the end
For my dividend
And when I turn off the lights
I'll wait here til the end
Over and over she burns my circuits
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
When I hear your voice
It fills me with noise
Was this meant to be?
Are you corrupting me?
Can't you just pretend
That we are more than friends?
Despite the metal and wires
I still have human desires
Over and over she burns my circuits
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
Over and over she burns my circuits
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
The satellites connecting us, protecting us
Our makers have neglected us
It's not their fault
It's just the way
Over and over she burns my circuits
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
La la la...
I can feel all the things that we can't share
That we are more than friends?
Despite the metal and wires
I still have human desires
For my dividend
And when I turn off the lights
I'll wait here til the end
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
It fills me with noise
Was this meant to be?
Are you corrupting me?
That we are more than friends?
Despite the metal and wires
I still have human desires
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
Our makers have neglected us
It's not their fault
It's just the way
I feel fire rushing through my wires
I can feel all the things that we can't share
I can feel all the things that we can't share

To me, this song is about fucking a computer. But that may just be the whole thing about "metal and wires" and the name, 'Binary Love'.
Actually, I don't think it's about computer sex anymore. I get the more distinct feeling that it's about a robot who has been implanted with an emotion chip, or something, and has fallen in love with his female creator. But, if not, then I recon it's an internet romance.
I think this song is about, yeah, an internet romance and the constraints it holds.
This song is alot like Pink Ego Box by Muse, both songs, in my oppinion are about online relationships and as allyphan said, the constraints involved.
typical guy wants girl, girl unavailable. unrequited love etc etc
no this isn't anything to do with computers at all, its just a sigh about humanity in general i think, 'despite these metal and wires. i'v still got human desires' is his anger about are just like machines programmed to behave with no freedom in life, but despite this he wants to break out with his 'human desires.' he also refers to 'our makers' so God, and says they have neglected us, i get the feeling hes worried about sin- 'are you corrupting me?' apologies for length
I think it could also be about a guy who cannot love. Who is essentially a computer inside, unable to feel emotion, and yet at some level gets 'burned'.
Binary Love is written from the perspective of either a mere computer, or more intriguingly, an actual cyborg or human-like robot. He is in service to "her," and as the relationship exists, they are "friends." But, he obviously wants "has human desires," and begins by asking "don't you ever pretend, that we are more than friends." Since he doesn't have an actual heart, he expresses the feeling of becoming heart-broken with the metaphor of the woman "burning his circuits" and his "wires" becoming heated. Since they are human on the one hand, and cyborg on the other, they can't share the same feelings, and he isn't even supposed to have any, and even though he knows this and feels unrequited love, he forgives their creators (humans/God/makers of robots) and says "its just the way it is." As far as the line "are you corrupting me?" this is a "tell" that he is computer or robot in that files can become "corrupted" when bugs, viruses, bad code are written. The author created a great double-meaning with it since the robot is more than likely explicitly not supposed to develop feelings for his owner yet, "when I hear your voice, it fills me with noise," that undefined feeling of love, that translates as white noise or static to the robot's ears.
