Terror Lyrics

Baby don't go
To the haunted hotel
Got a really bad feeling
In my lungs and my bones

Science can't save you
And your parents are away
On holiday in Mexico
Buying trinkets in the town

The haunted hotel
In a dream that I've been having
Has got me waking up sweating
Afraid to turn on the news

My internal dialogue
Is rutted and confused
Trying to find some peace and quiet
But the damage was done

And my job in the city won't matter no more
When the network is down and my flesh is all torn

Baby stay here
In the shadow of the buildings
In familiar surroundings
In your safety zone

Every plane is a missile
Every suitcase a bomb
There's no reason in my head now
Only fear in my bones

looks around

I'm the only one here then. Not for long hopefully.

Alan Donohoe told Nme this song was about a person who has a dream about a terrorist attack in London. He's clearly begging his partner not to go into London because he feels his dream was prophetic and there will actually be a terrorist attack in the future.

The last verse is where he is took over by the fear and is paranoid about the thought of going into London, where ordinary things like suitcases and planes look like weapons to him.

Fairly creepy, really, considering what just happened.

Wow. That's all I can say. I guess it's just you and me Psychoteen.

Definitely has sinister 7th July undertones. Pretty weird considering it was written before. I'm guessing it was anyway.

I saw The Rakes in London exactly a week before the July attacks and this was my favourite song at the time. Very strange.

Firstly gotta say i love this song and all the Rakes stuff. Great work real proper punk back in British Music, hope they get a big break soon, they're better than half the crap hanging around.

As for this song I can believe phychoteens explanation sounds sensible. I prefer to look at it from the punk point of view of a social commentry he is discussing the fact that everyone is afraid of a terrorist attack and the impact it is having on everyones lives we are losing freedom to fear... we now see "Every plane is a missile Every suitcase a bomb" which i think has become worryingly true...

Hats off to the rakes and keep up the good work and keep the tracks as they are dont do what the monekys did and lengthen them by 30seconds to a min just to make it more radio friendly!

I'm pretty sure it's "In my bones, in my bones" not "In my lungs and my bones"

'Is rutted and confused' should be 'Disrupted and confused' atleast thats how it sounds to me
