Mom In Love, Daddy In Space Lyrics
Walking bones
Choose your own direction
Go have fun some place else
Bring your soul
And your Beach Boys records
I can't stand to have you here
So worn out
Cold and dehydrated
The fortune's spent
And dad's in space
Every home should have a mom in love
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space
Show her some respect she's all worn down
For years to come
I will not forget you
As my sun, as my pain
Time will heal
What now feels so wounded
Tears are spilled
And the holes will fill
Every home should have a mom in love
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space
Show her some respect she's all worn down
Show her some respect she's all worn down
Show her some respect she's all worn down
Every home should have a mom in love
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space
Choose your own direction
Go have fun some place else
And your Beach Boys records
I can't stand to have you here
Cold and dehydrated
The fortune's spent
And dad's in space
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space
I will not forget you
As my sun, as my pain
What now feels so wounded
Tears are spilled
And the holes will fill
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space
Show her some respect she's all worn down
Show her some respect she's all worn down
And a daddy in space
Chinese porcelain cats to guard her love
In the window space

This song is about his parents. everyone should have a mom in love refers to the fact that his mother was in love with a guy from norway, and a daddy in space refers to the fact that his father was almost always drunk. His parents didn't / don't have a good relationship with each other, and yes it can give everyone a troubled childhood, but the song is focused more on "this is what it was like at home - but look what i've become - i turned out good - everyone should have it like i did"
This song is about someone who is kicked out of home...I think
wow i cant believe no more people have commented on these amazing lyrics. im going to start out on a more general note. this song is about widow who has lost the love of her life. he has gone up into space but she is still stuck with her feelings of love, guarding these feeling with her defense of porcelain cats by the window. basically she's just sitting at home wasting away, not allowing anybody to get close to her. she's angry at the world and wants no sould or happy go lucky beach boy records. but nonetheless we should...

whats really special about this song is the fact that it perfectly describes my relationship with my ex. she had lost a her long time boyfriend and was left with a infant daughter. She herself made me aware of this, and so it was kind of our theme song. the thematic implications only became more noticably as our relationship evolved and she slowly grew tired of me. she could get over her boyfriend after all and all she had left in the end was hate. but at no point did i hold this against her, because i knew that she was indeed all worn out. she had had a troubled childhood and her first boyfriend had been the only thing connecting her to the world, now her daughter had taken over this role but it was only by a miracle that she was clinging to life. i feel the song is adressing me aswell i really felt she was my sun and pain at the same time and i did initially feel wounded but with time my holes did fill :)
awesome
Well Kasper Eistrup stated a koncert last year, that this song was not about a troubled childhood.
