Sunshine Lyrics

Sunshine, I'd really like to tell you
Oh my sunshine even though your skies are blue
You're drying up my bed
How can I get any rest now
Sha la la la la la la la

Someday you will get the best of me
Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey
I'm lying in my bed and I will soon be put to rest now
Sha la la la la la la la

Sunshine, I'd really like to tell you
Oh my sunshine even though your skies are blue
You're drying up my bed
How can I get any rest now
Sha la la la la la la la

And someday you will get the best of me
Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey
I'm lying in my bed and I will soon be put to rest now
Sha la la la la la la la

there are different ways to interpret songs, poems and other writings. maybe the artist meant something and maybe they didnt, maybe they wanted to leave it up to the listener or reader; i am the listener and it has a meaning to me. i think that is what is important.

its about my girl. her name is sunshine. my name is sky. even when times are tough, she is there for me. she keeps me going. and she helps me take it easy. when im crying on my pillow when things are tough for us, she dries up my tears.

im becoming a better man for her and eventually, ill be there for her, too.

i love sunshine. and that is what this song means to me.

Besides the melody i don't see where there is any happiness in this song. He has his sunshine but it seems to be doing more damage to him than good. Its drying up his bed and keeping him awake and eventually he is forced to give in to his sunshine and by the time he does he is dying.

Beccaboohoo: I agree with you: Sunshine is actually a slang word for coccaine, and it totally fits with the song:

"Oh my sunshine even though your skies are blue You're drying up my bed"

This could be saying even though you may seem like you're good from the outside - even though you're skies are blue - you (coccaine) actually are hurting me "drying up my bed"

"Someday you will get the best of me Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey"

One day his addiction to Sunshine (coccaine) will "get the best of him" and ultimately kill him.

Thats a possibility of what the song could be - the upbeat tempo could just be exactly how coccaine is - all happy and exciting and such on the outside, but solemn once you get to thinking about it. Although, that last part is quite a big stretch.

It could also - of course - be about love, or maybe an addiction to a love that is bad for him? I don't know. But I love the song

Yeah, just a nice, happy song. I really love that part in the middle (after the first two stanzas) when he plays that little acoustic guitar solo. I love the catchy melody.

I like how it's upbeat and there isn't any hidden meaning..I searched for the lyrics expecting it to be a little less than simple, but that's what makes it beautifully pleasant. Great song!
