So Cold I Could See My Breath Lyrics
INTRO
Let’s start with just the basics then
I’m sure that we can fake it when
It’s time to say how much it meant
And we walk out so innocent
VERSE 1
You can be so persuasive
When you say it’s
More than a day trip
And convince me
I’m condescending
When I ask, “Will this be ending?”
How quickly lust can pretend it's love
CHORUS
We’re just the boys and girls that think they always know (we are the boys and the girls)
With answers for the world
The ambiguity shows
We’re just the boys and girls that dance with all their clothes (we are the boys and the girls)
Hiding under the sheets
Believing nobody knows
VERSE 2
All the suspense
That we’ve created
Now it’s wasted
And we can’t change it
The beginning to the ending
I find myself remembering
PRE-CHORUS
How quickly lust can pretend it's love
Designing words to help us believe
It’s so much more than just tonight
So we have got to get this right
How quickly words can become our hands
Resigning everything we believe
You wanted, you wanted
More
CHORUS
We’re just the boys and girls that think they always know (we are the boys and the girls)
With answers for the world
The ambiguity shows
We’re just the boys and girls that dance with all their clothes (we are the boys and the girls)
Hiding under the sheets
Believing nobody knows
VERSE 3
You could be the one to stay
Made from birth for just this day
But something tells me it’s not right
If we could lose it all tonight
I’m no better on my own
Leave the message on your phone
Always trying what I can to be a child and not a man
CHORUS
We’re just the boys and girls that think they always know (we are the boys and the girls)
With answers for the world
The ambiguity shows
We’re just the boys and girls that dance with all their clothes (we are the boys and the girls)
Hiding under the sheets
Believing nobody knows
OUTRO
My hands across your clothes (my hands across your clothes)
And me without a plan
(Something I'll miss)
To keep us boys and girls (to keep us boys and girls)
Another woman and man?
(Something I will always miss)

emery's new stuff sounds primo! so pumped!
i think this song is bout purity and realationships. how quick lust can come into a relationship. at the end i think it says " and not a woman and man", but i could be wrong. that might mean keeping themselves in a mindset of children rather than of adults. in the bible it says that to enter the kingdom of heaven, you must be like children. or i could be wrong...
i lovelovelove the chorus.
"how quicly lust can pretend its love." i think its similar to left with alibis and lying "Hiding under the sheets Believing nobody knows"
i agree with you christsiderider, this is about purity in relationships. it is refering to teenagers when it talks about "the boys and girls that think they always know." teenagers can be so confident in their own strength that they allow themselves to get caught in a bad situation "without a plan." i especially like the lines "How quickly words can become our hands / Resigning everything we believe" - this is talking about how thoughts can suddenly turn into action, and you can go against everything that you know is right.
definitely agree with brandonissuperhot and christsidrider "We’re just the boys and girls that think they always know"
we think that we are so smart a lot of times. turth is, we're not. we think we're so mature that we can be physical in a relationship, but that ultimately will just lead to pain. i think this is referring to sex.
"Always trying what I can to be a child and not a man"
goes along with the above. we think we are mature, but what we are doing is very childish. the truth is, we all want sex, we just dont want the consequences. alot of times guys will say "im havin sex cause im a real man" thats bull. it takes a real man to wait. that is also what he is talking about here. words turn into actions so quickly
"my hands across your clothes, and me without a plan."
this is the couple who has no idea what they are doing when they begin to get physical. Emery is so sarcastic in a way, pointing out that teenagers start their own problems. i love it and completely agree.
Emery rocks, but God rules.
I AGREE AMEN GOD RULES! the song is about the loss of innocence and losing your virginity. how quickly lust can pretend its love you get caught up in lust and you say its love so you can have sex but then after you realize your not the same anymore afraid of what people will think "hiding underneath the sheets beleiving nobody knows" "we are the boys and girls who think they always know" kids start thinking that they know what love is when there very young
All the suspense That we’ve created Now it’s wasted And we can’t change it you think about all how your waiting for the right person to give it up to. "the suspense" its wasted when you lose your virginity and you cant go back.
My hands across your clothes (my hands across your clothes) And me without a plan (Something I'll miss) To keep us boys and girls (to keep us boys and girls) Another woman and man? (Something I will always miss)
at least thats what i think
What do ya'll think the title has to do with it? BTW I totally agree about the purity stuff. Me and my friends (I'm in 10th grade) live by this song.
ze title reffers to ze fact that all of the tension and suspense leaves zyoo feeling like its so could zyoo can see zyoor breath my fellow curious folks
Wow, I never thought of it the way everyone else does, but that makes a lot of sense. I can't agree with everything about the religion sense, but I fully agree- the purity of relationships. The point being, sex should be special, not casual. Emery pretty much owns. Oh yes.
