I still love the light on baby
It keeps me awake but I don't mind
Everything I ever wanted
Is right here but soon it won't be
Oh, if fortune favours the brave
I am as poor as you come
Well I've got a million things to say
Well I've got a million things to
I still love the light on baby
It keeps me awake but I don't mind
Well everything I ever wanted
Is right here but soon it won't be
If fortune favours the brave
I am as poor as they come
Well I've got a million things to say
Well I've got a million things to
I still love the light on baby
I still love the light on baby
I still love the light on baby
I still love the light on baby
Oh, if fortune favours the brave
I am as poor as they come
Well I've got a million things to say
Well I've got a million things to
Ahhhh, a million things to say
Got a million things to say
Got a million things to say
Got a million things to
It keeps me awake but I don't mind
Is right here but soon it won't be
I am as poor as you come
Well I've got a million things to
It keeps me awake but I don't mind
Is right here but soon it won't be
I am as poor as they come
Well I've got a million things to
I still love the light on baby
I still love the light on baby
I still love the light on baby
I am as poor as they come
Well I've got a million things to
Got a million things to say
Got a million things to say
Got a million things to

fear of sleeping with someone, keeping the lights on late and wanting to just talk. 'got a million things to say.'
thanks for the lyrics but all the "ever"s need to be changed to "always". I dont know what it means. Being a coward.
Oh, if fortune favours the brave I am as poor as they come
I don't get that line
@Mack the Spoon i think the lyrics are wrong, it is ": i am as purple as they come", it refers to the babies when they "come" (born).

@Mack the Spoon I also hear “purple” but I think of the “Purple Heart of Bravery”. So, he is as “brave” as they come. In the context of the rest of the song, it’s probably meant sarcastically.

"Oh, if fortune favours the brave I am as poor as they come"
I think the two lines suggest that people who are brave tend to be richer than those who aren't.
The person then uses this to imply that he/she is far from brave by suggesting that there is no poorer person.
I'm going along with johnanthonycox here.
I think this song is about the fear of sleeping with someone and the ways in which it can be delayed/ prevented.
this song is about being scared of something. possibly losing all that they have at this moment. i don't think its about sleeping with someone, its about keeping the light on when you are young and afraid of the dark. 'if fortune favours the brave/ i am as poor as they come' basically saying that they are anything but brave.
I was watching a football match and upon the goalkeeper putting his body on the line to stop a goal and succeeding in doing so, the commentator says "fortune favours the brave".
I shouldn't have mixed up "rich" with "fortune". Ah well, hopefully this is a better explanation.
i think it's about being afraid of the dark and being ashamed of it.
"if fortune favours the brave, I am as poor as they come" could that not mean that hes not brave at all, hence the being afraid of the dark? x
My friend told me about this song, and I just now listened to it and was dazzled. Hmm... Maybe the 'I still love the light on baby/It keeps me awake but I don't mind' part means that he doesn't like to be kept in the dark, likes to know what's going on. 'If fortune favours the brave I am as poor as they come' obviously means that he's saying he isn't brave. The 'I've got a million things to say' part reminds me all too much of my friend, cos at one point in time, we couldn't think of things to talk about, but actually did, just was afraid to say them or something. Dang it. He's tied up in another good song...
