good song and i think it means he is too far away from god and all his good and that he is possibly in need of him and if he could only see him clearly things would be good again. Also he says its up to himself to be near to him again.

i agree with lauraxisxmine the song could go to either a relationship with God or with a girlfriend they could have even written it purposely to go either way so that more people can relate to it
