The Warrior's Code Lyrics
You're the fighter, you've got the fire
The spirit of a warrior, the champion's heart
You fight for your life because the fighter never quits
You make the most of the hand you're dealt
Because the quitter never wins
No!
You were born in a box to a city that's seen their share
Mello, Ryan, Carney, among them your photo proudly hangs there
Above the bar in the Gaelic Club
They tell the story of a throwback
With the heart of a lion
They salute your glory
It's another murderous night
Another left hook from hell
A bloody war on the boardwalk
And the kid from Lowell rises to the bell
Micky
It's a warrior's code
Micky
He's got the warrior's soul
The spirit of a warrior, the champion's heart
You fight for your life because the fighter never quits
You make the most of the hand you're dealt
Because the quitter never wins
No!
Mello, Ryan, Carney, among them your photo proudly hangs there
Above the bar in the Gaelic Club
They tell the story of a throwback
With the heart of a lion
They salute your glory
Another left hook from hell
A bloody war on the boardwalk
And the kid from Lowell rises to the bell
It's a warrior's code
Micky
He's got the warrior's soul

This is, of course, the albums title, as well as the first single. It is among my least favorite songs on this album.
I assumed Micky (freehat17 misspelled the name) was the guy from the Rocky movies, but as it turns out (the liner notes tell us):
"This song is about Massachusettes' own Micky Ward, a boxing legend who defines the heart and sould of the sport. He also happens to be the guy on the front cover..."
well yeah that is obvious, cause the guy they are singing about is boxing in the song. hence the left hook from hell, and his picture is hung up with the other pictures there.
Micky Ward is an Irish boxer from Lowell,Ma....His first fight with Arturo Gatti was voted "Fight of the Century" and for 2 consecutive years he was involved in the "Fight of the Year" While he wasn't the best fighter, he was definitly one of the toughest. His never quit attitude and vicious left hook to the body are what made him a legend to fellow Irishmen and New Englanders
Wonderful Modivational song
I love this song, Ward was like the only good thing to ever come from my hometown of Lowell.
Music like this makes me proud to come from Massachusetts...
Music like this makes me proud to be Irish...
Ok, so I finally just saw the fight between Ward and Gatti online, and omg, they weren't kidding. Easily one of the best fights in the last 25 years. Especially the 9th round... unreal.
unbelievable song. unbelievable boxer. i mean he was far from the best but he was the toughest and wouldnt stay down and thats sorta wut it means to be irish micky wards the man...best thing to come from lowell...hell best thing to come from new england
