A Lung Lyrics

(Laughter)

I'm a crusader
I'm the darkest lady
I'm the taste on your tongue

I'm Darth Vader
I know what I'm made of
'Cause I was warmed by the sun
The sun

You're looking for me
But it's not what you seek
'Cause I've got a twisted personality

You're a crusader
You're the darkest lady
I like the taste of your tongue

You are Darth Vader
I know what you're made of
And you were warmed by the sun
By the sun
By the sun
The sun

And I'm looking for you
And I'm glad I found me
A special kind of personality

When the spark goes out of you
It grows ten times bigger in me
I am your lung

I'm Darth Vader
I know what I'm made of
'Cause I was warmed by the sun
By the sun
The sun
The sun

I was looking for you
I'm not glad I found me
A special kind of personality

Yes, you are the crusader
You are the lady
I want to chase your tongue

You are Darth Vader
I know what you're made of
You are like a lung
A lung
A lung
A lung

(And you were warmed by the sun) You're looking for me
(By the sun) But it's not what you seek
(By the sun) I've got a twisted personality
By the sun

You're looking for me
But it's not what you seek
I've got a twisted personality (A special kind of personality)

Well I'm not sure what this song ultimately means. But I would express my love for every element of the song in that it transports me into a mixed state of feeling haunted by the sounds, a longing by the words and a sense of floating along a dark space. It feels, not sounds, like the words are so cryptic that I can simply appreciate the lyrics at face value. With the way the two sing (or speak) it feels to me like a pair of destined lovers communicating over space and vast amounts of time that their voices become warped. Plain and simply it's one of my top favorite The Knife songs.

this song is about appreciation. about being in an open relationship. where one can admit the strange things about oneself and the other can accept that. and can still appreciate the other person. well, that's what i got from this. it's a love song in a twisted way. i love it. deeply. i love it.

It's "me", not "thee".

This song is a dialogue between two people. The female warns that "you're looking for me, but it's not what you seek...", while the male responds, "I was looking for you and I'm glad I found me...". The female speaks in the present tense, as the "action" is unfolding (i.e., at the moment when the two meet), and the male speaks in the past tense, looking back. He is forced to acknowledge that she was right; he was looking for "her," but she ultimately led him to some knowledge of himself. He corrects her, though; she's not "twisted;" she's "special". I agree with pearandgreen and poweroutage that this is an odd take on an odd/unconventional yet honest and therefore more fulfilling, relationship.

When she says she is "a lung" that takes the spark out of him, she is saying that something in him inspires her, and that she increases it tenfold, and, since she is a part of him, his lung (not, notably, his rib), he also benefits from her transformative power within the relationship.

That said, I wouldn't mind being someone's Darth Vader.

I really like your take on the song. I'm especially fond of your comment about the woman being the man's lung, not his rib.

I think the song is a conversation between air and lungs. And the lyrics are "warmed by the sun," not " born my the sun."

oops. "born BY the sun." not my.

im assuming pearandgreen means open as in no secret and not one of those relationships where you go out and do stuff with other people too.

pearandgreen has got it spot on in my opinion. I also love it deeply. It's like a person out of step with everyone else. I can relate strongly to that feeling. Finding someone who needs that difference is very special.

I absolutely love this song, it fills me. what do you think about the video then?, it starts with "Once upon a life I've begun my lonely journey in order to find the most precious what I have"
