Convalescence Lyrics

It's been a long night
waiting to sleep the day away
and it's been a long time coming
along with me every step of the way

oh confinement binds you
nothing scares me, nothing thrills me
I've fooled myself into believing
that nothing ails me, nothing kills me

stagnant time is a breeding ground for regrets and wrong doings
and resolutions take their time, that's if they even come at all

always seeking redemption
through the echoes I've listened and still came up missing
always seeking redemption
through the echoes I've listened seen through the cracks

stagnant time is a breeding ground for regrets and wrong doings
and resolutions take their time, that's if they even come at all

oh confinement binds you
nothing scares me, nothing thrills me
I've fooled myself into believing
that nothing ails me, nothing kills me

These wounds will heal and nothing can stop me now

These wounds will heal....

to me this song is about about being numb to the world and then getting over the fact that life sucks and now "he" is trying to move on from the past or whatever has hurt him (probably a relationship) and become a better stronger person...

this song is pure metal... it's almost unholy. Did anyone else catch the very pure and distinct Swedish metal aspect to the song? Ie: the harmonics the kind of accent the lingering vocal melody to the chorus adding an intimate and softer yet darker flare to the song as a whole? I think it was that couple with the purely RIGHTEOUS tune to the chorus "confinement binds you... but nothing scares me, nothing thrills me... I've fooled myself into believing... that nothing ails me, nothing kills me..."

^ that right there makes me feel divine... it's so powerful... and the delivery is simply stupendous. It's almost vampirical in nature really... Nothing scares me for I am the immortal... Nothing thrills me (brought on by the vampirical curse... no pleasure is satisfying... nothing mundane is really pleasureable.) I've fooled myself into believing that nothing ails me.... this is an interesting line... for it reveals the other side and the more ironic spin on the note of the vampire reference. vampires are ultimately ONLY ailed by their own immortality. they are plagued with the curse of living for eternity and never being at piece. Nothing kills me... of course still stands.

Basically the lyrics complement righteous chord progressions and near technical perfection in this song quite nicely... there is a classic element as well as a newer, double bass-y flashier driving element as well as a hint of swedish THOR thrashing righteousness that make this song well balanced and meaningful. Ilove you Darkest Hour.

the swedish metal aspect of DH is what attracted me to them in the first place. Theres just something about those swedes

In my opinion nobody should be judged cause of his interpretation of the song, it´s up to you what you think about it and what you see in the lyrics. I

Nontheless I consider the meaning of these lyrics is something deeper than vampire or fantasy stuff. It could be about regret of somebody who went too far and now realizes that he has done something wrong.

Oh and by the way sry if I made some grammar or voc mistakes, it´s my first comment and my english´s not the best ;P.

I think this song is about regrets. Seems to me the narrator done something wrong but didn't think of the consenquences. Now he regrets it & decides time will heal the wounds. Well that's how I interpret this song. Great album & great music. (No time to grammar check)

i think this is about a person who is having delusions of grandeur which is clouding his judgement

"I’ve fooled myself into believing that nothing ails me nothing kills me"

It could also have something to do with brainwashing
