Gimme Some Salt Lyrics
Sally hit the pavement
Wineglass in her hand
Sally's rearrangement
I'll never understand
But little did I wonder
(little did I try)
her little bit of thunder
her little bit of lightning
(lightning)
Sucka sucka MC
Sing my favorite song
Sing it for the dancing
Sing it for the somber one
Curious velocity
Brought me to a halt
Flatten me my baby
Gimme some salt
She was always asking
Where's the nearest bar?
Pedal on the gas kid
Getting playing hard hard
I was in the kitchen
Cooking up a shark
Sally's out preparing
Witty remarks
Wineglass in her hand
Sally's rearrangement
I'll never understand
But little did I wonder
(little did I try)
her little bit of thunder
her little bit of lightning

Man this song got even better when I read the lyrics. This song is all about getting sweatty with semi-disinterested women.
I have no friends named Sally but I want some.
they took me a bit to get used to..but I love the repitition of witty remarks and gimme some salt for some reason just really gets to me
What?
No!
It's about some lady's suicide.
Unless the whole fucking song is a metaphor.
I don't see the suicide angle. I think it's more about a relationship gone awry- the two have lost interest in each other. Maybe i'm transplanting an experience with an ex onto this one, but that's the way i'm reading it.
I have a feeling its about two alcoholics or just sally going from bar to bar gettin smashed. give me some salt for tequila slammers.
great song better now ive read the lyrics
salt used to be slang for someone who fucks with you when you're hitting on a girl... food for thought, or just some random remark? i'll let you be the judge.
i can see suicide as in the beginning it says "sally hit the pavement"...but it makes more sense if you think about it as a song about alcoholics. Hitting the pavement as in passing out, ya know?
it's obviously about getting drunk/being drunk.. whatever.
listen to the way he's singing.. it's very.. drunken-like.
anywho, this by far my favorite song on the album.
I think its about sally being an alocoholic and going clubbing, and maybe the narrorator is her husband or something.
"Sally's rearrangement" meaning her new found love of being a drunk. "I was in the kitchen Cooking up a shark Sally's out preparing Witty remarks" could mean maybe he was making dinner and she was about to come home with some excuse to where she was? If i'm off let me know what you guys think.
i like it better when i thought he said "i was in the kitchen cooking up a Shot" not shark
Me-fucking-too. The reason I looked these up, haha... But I guess every song can't comprise of the topic... = / Thank the heavens for Lou Reed! = X

Yea, I definitely thought it was "cooking up a shot." It was the reason I looked it up as well...Too bad...I did like it better when I thought it was that.

Although then again maybe it's a reference to Sublime's "Pool Shark," which IS definitely about Heroin. I mean, who ever says that they're "cooking up" dinner or food?
