I like the lyrics to this song, although it's dark for Journey, I like the sound to it, their music is amazing.
I love this depressing side of Journey.. It's haunting. It's beautiful. It really shows just how versatile and amazing they are. Love this unique and gorgeous song, the guitar solo at the end just makes it!
IMHO, this song is about someone who chose to give up an addiction rather than die from it. Addictions so often so consume someone that they lose everything - job, House, friends, family - and they can’t point the blame - they made the choice. “But I’m the one who could save myself” - only the addict can change him/herself. Change or die. It’s that simple.
