I think this song is about the ending of a relationship.
"the angels would look down".. Looking a saviour to help or to take him away from the argument.. "but you're too fucking tall".. The feeling of feeling small and helpless but no help is coming.. "it's all too loud".. Possibly just the shouting/arguing/confusion.
"with days of conflict followed by weeks of pain".. The falling apart of the relationship followed by the rough weeks ahead 'trying to get over it'.. Saying something in the heat of the moment often leads to that moment staying with you forever, possibly always questioning what you said and why you did say it.
