The Skies Above Lyrics

Sparks from the fire rise up to the sky
Higher and higher oh I want to fly
Out of the story this time I'll be free
Wake up for a moment from that dream of me

Just a legend cold word on a page
Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away
On silver wings spread out to the sun
I'm leaving this city for the skies above.

Over the ruins an ancient light
Never lost, never failing
Follow me on my path to the heights
Before the shadows fade into night

Running back but I'm out of time.
I could tell everything
Hear the words that fill my mind
How can I say she was mine?

Final Fantasy X Spoilers Below

I guess it's about Tidus' feelings and the things he wants to tell Yuna; as you can see it's originally from Final Fantasy X.

"Running back but I'm out of time. I could tell everything Hear the words that fill my mind How can I say she was mine?"

Tidus disappeared and he wanted to tell Yuna everything, but he doesn't have anymore chance. The final line suggests that Tidus thinks that Yuna's not his, since they're separated.

Its pretty much the story of FFX in a few lines

"Sparks from the fire rise up to the sky" Opening FMV sequence of the party around a campfire

"Out of the story this time I'll be free" Tidus is teling "his" story throught the game

"Wake up for a moment from that dream of me" He is a dream.

"Just a legend cold word on a page" Auron the legendary guardian (who is dead so is pretty much just cold [cold as in dead] words)

"Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away On silver wings spread out to the sun" Silver airship?

"Over the ruins an ancient light" in one of the final FMV's orbs of light are seen flying over Zanarkand

"Never lost, never failing" the ruins where not lost?

"Follow me on my path to the heights" Mt. Gagazet

"Before the shadows fade into night" After they defeat Sin (its during night if you look atound the tower of the dead) its Tidus' last night before he "dies"

"Running back but I'm out of time. I could tell everything Hear the words that fill my mind How can I say she was mine?"

Tidus runs out of time and dissapears before he can tell yuna how he feels

thats my conclusive summary of this awesome TBM song :D

lol, the vocals are kind of funny. A quasi-operatic thing. A guy called Mr. Goo does 'em.

The piano in the beginning is what brought me to this song at first.

The first time I listened I enjoyed that portion and when I heard that fading I figured I would just let the song fade and close it but than the guitar kicked in which floored me. And than the awesome Opera vocals just bring the piece to fruition. Excellence.

this song is actually quite cool. I was always a fan of Nobuo's work so i was more than happy to buy a Black Mages album. So I got this album a few days ago! When i first heard this song, i thought the vocals ruined it but, y'know, it kinda grew on me. COOL SONG!!!:)

I agree with Skez. I also agree with Yomino332, I found this song to sound strange at first, but after hearing it a few times, the vocals grew on me. Mr. Goo's voice reminds me of the lead singer from Rhapsody!

Did anyone else notice the slight connection between this song and Yuna's "1000 Words" from FFX-2? "On siver wings spread out to the sun" Yuna's song frequents the words "Suspended on silver wings" Could it be a reference? Just a little thing, but I thought I'd point it out.

The song's not bad -- I love TBM-- but I'm not too fond of the vocals in this song.
