Yep this song is a definite reference to trying damm hard to stay in the social loop! all without killing yourself! i can relate to this song so much. if you start staying at home saving for adult stuff like 'houses' and 'cars' your place in a social group becomes jeopardised

i think its about how average everyday life is, no variation, and that he wants that to stop, wants to back away, but doesnt want to miss anything, cos maybe something'll happen, but its just so boring everyday. when you look at it that way, the first part makes no sense...
