Amtrak Is For Lovers Lyrics
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you,
I'd never think to treat you like this
I can't believe it
I'll give you 3 more
chances then I'm gone for good"
She is reaching outer limits with him
He treads thin ice so damn thin that he can sense the water at his feet.
At the start he was a prince who brought gifts wrapped and well thought, His lips needed no words, kisses told her everything
She's wearing his
favorite shirt she owns
yet still she knows
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you,
I'd never think to treat you like this
I can't believe it
I'll give you 3 more
chances then I'm gone for good"
He swears he's really worth it,
but has trouble showing it
This routine is over
as he says to her
it hits her like a ton of bricks
Another weekend in the transit station eyes glue to hands
of the rushing clocks that won't wait for just anyone
She awaits the R2 patiently with gifts clinched under arms,
for her lover that she misses oh so much right now
He's wearing her
favorite shirt he owns
yet still she cries
(he forgets it)
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you,
I'd never think to treat you like this
I can't believe it
I'll give you 3 more
chances then I'm gone for good"
He swears he's really worth it,
but has trouble showing it
This routine is over
as he says to her
it hits her like a ton of bricks
Friday train rides, sitting next to suit and ties to work
Six long hours cramped and crowded
Her regrets can't quite be counted on both of her hands,
but count on her goodbyes
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you,
I'd never think to treat you like this
I can't believe it
I'll give you 3 more
chances then I'm gone for good"

whyyyy has no one commented on this yet!? it's like one of my favourite songs on the album! the music is ace, the lyrics are totally relate-able and it's just pure amazing...
it's pretty obvious what it's about. the lyrics tell you themselves lol
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you, I'd never think to treat you like this I can't believe it I'll give you 3 more chances then I'm gone for good"
I get SO much out of that lyric. to me at least it means that the girl is sick of being treated like she is. But she cares for him so much that she cant bring herself to leave her, but still feels the need to keep her dignity. The repetiton in the chorus show how horrible shes feeling. "No joke, I'll leave you, I'd NEVER thing to treat you like this, I can't believe it." But then she realizes how much she cares for the guy, and downright needs him and says "...I'll give you three more chances then I'm gone for good" When she knows herself she'll never be able to leave him. I love the chorus from this song. Houston Calls did a good job on it
this song is amazing. the band is amazing. the tune is so catchy. i love this line: "He treads thin ice so damn thin that he can sense the water at his feet." yes.
"No joke," she says "I'll leave you, I'd never think to treat you like this I can't believe it I'll give you 3 more chances then I'm gone for good"
those lyrics, in my opinion, are the best part of the song. right now, i can relate to this song to the tee. and i kinda hate myself for feeling like the girl when she gives him more chances.
i could have related to this a couple of months back, yet now i only look back and think what a gayass the guy was & how much i care for my new man. basically it's about a girl who's so much in love with the guy she can't walk out, despite him hurting her and suchlike. shes giving him more chances because he keeps telling her he's worth it and shes loves him too much to go. it's a sad song to think about it, explains how a relationship can go downhill because of how the other person acts, and how his actions at the beginning of the relationship makes it impossible for her to walk out on him when theres nothing left in it. if that makes any sense =P x
i agree with mostly everyone but also in the end he is the one that ends the relationship and she is so shocked that she could care so deeply for a guy that, in the end didn't care how much he hurt her. really easy to relate to unfortunately.
amazing song. the band is unbelieveable..really nice guys too :)
"Friday train rides, sitting next to suit and ties to work Six long hours cramped and crowded Her regrets can't quite be counted on both of her hands, but count on her goodbyes"
What does this mean? Is this her leaving him?
What I'm getting is she went to see him where ever and is leaving. Regretting ever going at all. She is leaving him and she is going to move on.
I love this song cuz its sooo true and relatable to alot of people...my prespective is a lil different than the rest, cuz im the guy who wants the girl in this situation but instead has to watch her go back to this guy everytime cuz she has the feeling that its the right thing even tho he treats her right at the beginning to get her back on his side and then treats her like shit once shes caught up in it all...i actually ended up dating the girl for 5 months or so and then what do you know? right back to him...doesnt make u feel the best...although i also feel like im relating to this song in the sense that i feel like giving her more chances and giving us another shot...so i kinda hit all sides of the spectrum on this song which is prly why i love it sooo much!!!!
Saw these guys live; amazing. This is one of my favourite songs atm.
ZeroGravity107. i thought it meant that she was going to see him. on the train. cause the verse before says "Another weekend in the transit station eyes glue to hands of the rushing clocks that won't wait for just anyone She awaits the R2 patiently with gifts clinched under arms, for her lover that she misses oh so much right now" transit station i thought was train station. and R2 a train number? and the regrets. are the amount of times she keeps going back to see him. she regrets that she doesnt leave him cause she knows she should. but she loves him. and cant. that just what i think anyway.
i love the line 'shes wearing his favourite shirt she owns' i think its so beautiful.
