I love the allusion in the final couplet to the Shirelles' "Dedicated to the One I Love," the lyrics of which include, "Each night before you go to bed my baby / Whisper a little prayer for me my baby / And tell all the stars above /This is dedicated to the one I love."
This is my favorite song on Easter. I think it's about a love triangle between a woman and two men who are brothers. She's addressing the brother who's in love with her, but she's in love with the other brother. I read that REM's Michael Stipe also cites this song as one of his favorites.
