Made In Heaven Lyrics
I'm taking my ride with destiny
Willing to play my part
Living with painful memories
Loving with all my heart
Made in heaven, made in heaven
It was all ment to be, yeah
Made in heaven, made in heaven
That's what they say
Can't you see
Oh I know, I know, I know that it's true
Yes it's really ment to be
Deep in my heart
I'm having to learn to pay the price
They're turning me upside down
Waiting for possibilities
Don't see too many around
Made in heaven, made in heaven
It's for all to see
Made in heaven, made in heaven
That's what everybody says
Everybody says to me
It was really ment to be
Yeah, yeah
When stormy weather comes around
It was made in heaven
When sunny skies break through behin the clouds
I wish it could last forever, yeah
Wish it could last forever, forever
I'm playing my role in history
Looking to find my goal
Taking in all this misery
But giving in all my soul
Made in heaven, made in heaven
It was all ment to be, yeah
Made in heaven, made in heaven
That's what everybody says
Wait and see, it was really ment to be
So plain to see
Yeah, everybody, everybody, everybody tells me so
Yes it was plain to see, yes it was ment to be
Written in the stars...
Written in the stars...
Willing to play my part

Actually, Freddie wrote this for his solo album "Mr Bad Guy" and it was re-done (to the original vocal) after Freddie died, by the other members of Queen. So it was probably recorded 1983/4 (perhaps earlier), long before Mercury developed AIDS.
I wonder if it's him taking stock - Queen were taking a break after 11-12 years together, so it must have been a weird time for all of them? I wonder if he's trying to work out what it's all been about so far, where he's at etc. "Made in Heaven" may refer to how great his life with Queen's been so far, about their rise to fame and the position they find themselves in now, global superstars etc. I think it's a song of contentment with life - whatever life throws at him, he feels OK with it ("When stormy weather..."), but he prefers it when it goes well ("When sunny skies...")
@stejsmith Do you think Freddie's solo work was significantly influenced by his experiences with Queen? Or was he trying to explore new directions and themes that were or are distinct from his work with Queen?

THIS is made in heaven...
when this song was recorded, mercury knew that he was going to die soon.i think if you see that your end is coming, you get somehow confused and it all gets clear-its nothing but destiny.with the ''When stormy weather comes around It was made in heaven'' part,i guess the emphasis is that everything we see was made in heaven and maybe eventually will return to its origin. even bad things like stormy weather. rip, mercury.
I would say this was Freddie accepting his fate in this song, but seeing as stejsmith pointed out it was for Mr.Bad Guy, I guess not, but it does fit well, so I can see why its on the band's final album. When I first heard this on The Very Best of Freddie Mercury Solo, I really didn't like it, but when I head the version from the Made in Heaven album, I fell in love with it...Brian's guitar and Roger's drums just add so much more to it, and Freddie's vocals are, as always, amazing.
a lovely song...an under-rated album...the bridge has always made me think he was making refence to Harold Arlen's famous "Stormy Weather" lyrics:
Dont know why theres no sun up in the sky Stormy weather Since my man and I aint together, Keeps rainin all the time.
the sense of it would be that he was missin his man...
sorry: reference not refence
and, just to add to the idea of Stormy Weather and it serving as a reference to being dumped: "I'm heading for that stormy weather soon..." from Melancoly Blues on News of the World
Freddy, due to his illness was getting philosophical, all these years later, I still think his death an absolute tragedy.
This song is soooooo beautiful it's kind of sad to queen had away to take your breath away with their music especially there live concerts also there is a live concert coming up with Queen + Adam Lambert it's Called the Rahpsody Tour
This sounds like Freddie is coming to terms with how he lived his life and it was worth it
