As Ugly As I Seem Lyrics

I am as ugly as I seem
Worse than all your dreams
Could ever make me out to be
And it makes me want to scream
When it's halloween
And the kids are laughing
The rogue is a bank he's never broke
But worth as much as a joke that no one is laughing at

Can you believe some things are not
Appealing and there's a spot
On the ceiling of my childhood bedroom
And can these dreams you can't imagine
Will never match the vision
That you had decided for me
You are to take away from me
Things that are mine and it's not your right
Out that you'd wouldn't expect to find out
Can it be that I don't want what you want?
And the only thing I could care for
Is a place in a home that is safe and warm
Safe and warm, safe and warm, safe and warm

Judge yourself if you feel the need
Just let me known to be
In search of the truth myself
There is a drop of blood on the ground
And it seems to me that it's not my kind
And I can't be sure if it's yours or mine

I am as ugly as I seem
Worse than all your dreams
Could ever make me
Could ever make me
Could ever make me
Could ever make me

I think its about making life choices that your parents dont agree with. He is a muscian, most dont make it... im shure his parents didn't think he would get this big. He grew up in a Catholic family. In 2005 on 60 Minutes, White told Mike Wallace that his life could have turned out differently. "I'd got accepted to a seminary in Wisconsin, and I was gonna become a priest, but at the last second I thought, 'I’ll just go to public school... I had just gotten a new amplifier in my bedroom, and I didn’t think I was allowed to take it with me."

"The rogue is a bank he's never broke But worth as much as a joke that no one is laughing at Can you believe some things are not Appealing and there's a spot" .....poking holes in the life they chose.

"On the ceiling of my childhood bedroom And can these dreams you can't imagine Will never match the vision That you had decided for me" ....they had something diffrent in mind every since he was a kid. He and his childhood friend, Dominic Suchyta, would listen to records in White's attic on weekends and began to record cover songs.

"You are to take away from me Things that are mine and it's not your right Out that you'd wouldn't expect to find out Can it be that I don't want what you want?" ....its his life not theirs? he doesnt want what they want.

"There is a drop of blood on the ground And it seems to me that it's not my kind And I can't be sure if it's yours or mine" ...'blood of my blood', makes sense theyre related. could also have something to do with making sacrifices.

I think this song is about some guy who realizes that his relationship has taken him far from his childhood dreams and what he really wants. His frustration and gets him in a fight with his girlfriend i.e. the blood. Afterward he feels ugly for what he has done. What do you say?

wow, guys, seriously. jack doesnt consider himself ugly, literally or figuratively. the title of the song is "as ugly as i seem" implying that he is indeed as ugly as he seems. and i dont really see him doing any bad things in this song. "the only thing i could care for is a place in a home that is safe and warm." "let me known to be in search of the truth." thats not ugly. infact, thats beautiful and innocent. the point of this song is that jack wants to find love and the girl refuses to believe this. thats why jack says "worse that all ur dreams could ever make me" because her dreams make him out to be a bad guy (the vision that she has decided for him) even though he isnt . so basically hes saying "go on, think wat u want. i let the truth speak for itself" hence "let me known to be in search of the truth"

i still havent figured out the drop of blood on the ground. so if anyone who actually understands this song gets it, let me know.

I think this song is more about telling people in the narrator's life, possibly a girlfriend, that he's not the fantasy that they've built up in their head of what he's supposed to be. He's human and flawed and ugly (like everyone else), and they should stop trying to change him into something else. He just wants to be his ugly human self and not try to fit himself into the image of others.

I read somewhere about this song's musical similarity to the Beatles' If I Needed Someone, and I do see the resemblance, esp. in the vocal melody.

No, I think its beautiful. Every song on GBMS is beautiful.

As for what this song is about I have no idea, but I like these lines: "There is a drop of blood on the ground/And it seems to me that it's not my kind/And I can't be sure if it's yours or mine"
