Remorse Is for the Dead Lyrics
The dirty lord of the manor surveys his filthy domain
Too many nights raising hell worked a little all too well.
Constructed a monument to denial and excess
Sunk so low, crawled so far back there's nowhere left to regress.
If these walls could talk, they would tell a horror story
Never-ending winter, violence and infidelity
Shadows fall through broken panes
Careless words that are filled with hate
Just enough to keep it together, never enough to make it work.
All the tongues here are forked.
We are a hailstorm of broken glass, follow the path of least expectance.
A huge stinking pile of sick, pile it higher and higher.
Light the match, start the fire.
Level this place until nothing's left and take us with it.
Surroundings are irate.
Crack of dawn brings naught but pain.
Resentment steadily grows.
Laughing in the gallows.
Full throttle determined to fail, pedal to the metal asleep at the wheel.
We are the lucky ones, welcome home.
Poisoned nerves and a bloody antidote
Violence is not an aberration, it's a rule.
Dying beyond the pale.
Your beatings will continue until my morale improves.
I don't hate you, I'm just removing an enemy.
Remorse is for the dead, my enemy.

I think he's saying that the person in question hasn't lived life well but they shouldn't regret it because there's not enough time in life to sit around in worry
People, this entire album is about the war in Iraq.
The general (or whoever) surveys his filthy domain (battlefield, or camp, or whatever). A ''monument to denial and excess'' - the ruins that are left. He's degraded him self to such a low level of morality, that ''there is nowhere left to regres''. If these ruind buildings (walls) could talk they would tell about the horrors that happened. Hateful words of propoganda - just enought to keep the war effort together. But never enough to make it work. All the tongues of soldiers who would speak out against this madness are forked (silenced, kept shut). Next few lines explain the conditions soldiers have to face, easy to understand. ''Poisoned nerves and a bloody antidote'' - Only cure for your ruind nerves is a bullet to the head. (therefore ''bloody'') They said that their priority was to save lives, but Violence is not an aberration, it's a rule. Get it, right? The suffering (beatings) of both sides will continue until those government fucks improove their morale. They don't hate all those trrorists, those fucking jihadists are just in the way of the US's oil, so will be treated as enemys, and shown no remorse. Remorse would be to end this war, send the soldiers home. But when their dead remorse is revenge. Therefore ''Remorse is for the dead''
I'm pretty fucking sure i got the meaning right.
How can it be that no one has commented on this amazing song? This song seems to be pretty obvious, in war remorse is for the dead. Just my guess but if you're remorseful in war you die. This line kinda explains it: I don't hate you, I'm just removing an enemy. Remorse is for the dead, my enemy. Great song, love the guitars near the end with that last verse.
i agree....totally kickass! keep it up lamb of god
seriously. doesn't "Your beatings will continue until my morale improves. I don't hate you, I'm just removing an enemy. Remorse is for the dead, my enemy." just push shivers down your spine? Wow, this song is lyricaly and musicaly almost perfect.
I must say, LOG have a habbit of sending shivers down my spine. They're music just means so much, is so powerful and just speaks the truth on a lot of subjects. If they keep producing awesome music like this then hats of to them.
It's a shame that they're not more popular, they rarely play on any music channels. Buy their albums, make them number one! That would be a kick in the face of democracy... Yeah...
Oh and one addiction
"Level this place until nothing is left and take us with it."
Only thing missing I think.
But what about the opening? The rest all makes sense but the opening lost me.
Wait nevermind lol I just got it.
This song is about how we are going to destroy ourselves, and we won't regret everything we are doing right now, until we are dead.
