Her Jazz Lyrics

i watched us struck
struck by lightning fuck
you been out driving me into your dick
guiding me
boy/girl revolutionaries you and me
that's what you told me
so show me...i'll run you over...watch me

when you say it, say it is us two, too
true, you taught me how to shoot
and best pull up my skirt
and put up with hurt
boy/girl revolutionaries, you lied to me
boy/girl revolution tease

you think you're going far
but you're going nowhere
you think you're taking me
but I'm going elsewhere
I think it's high time I was already out there
Why don't you realize that you're going nowhere?

Mental...men-torn
you had your way, you had your say
you had your way with that girl
now come outta your world
struck by my good luck
face it, you're old and out of touch

prettier dead or just more effective
now we're hunting you and we're not being selective
it's about time you showed some respect
we're gonna trash the square world

boredom, rage, fierce intention
this is the sound of the revolution

post-tension realization
this is happening without your permission
the arrival of a new renegade
girl/boy hyper-nation

i like it that way

future girl vision yeah
this is the sound of revelation
this is the sound of the revolution
girl sound, her sound
her jazz, signals, our time now!

What about the part "This is the sound of the revolution"? That's my favorite line, and it's not even written on here.

I agree with des... Punk boys can be just as macho and bro as the bros themselves... I'll dig a little deeper with this and say it's about hetero encounters in the punk/anarchist movements, how everyone claims to be so against the state, and they claim to do whatever the fuck they want... But really, the power relations between the state and the people play out in the very relations between guys and girls in the scene. How punk guys carry their own privilege and power into the basic act of sex (and even in how they relate to each other as people), and oppress women by silencing them and using them. The girls don't see them as allies, but as oppressors in their own scene.

Thank goddess* for riot grrrl.

"You had your way with that girl Like I'm out of your world Struck by my good luck Face it, you're old and out of touch OUT OF TOUCH!"

Man, you left out the best parts.

to me this song is about the boys and girls on the punk scene - the boys try to look different than normal guys but they're all the same and they want sex. (said awkwardly)
