Under the Gun Lyrics

She's got her halo and wings
Hidden under his eyes
But she's an angel for sure
She just can't stop telling lies
But it's too late for his love
Already caught in a trap
His angel's kiss was a joke
And she is not coming back

Because heaven sends and heaven takes
Crashing cars in his brain
Keep him tied to a dream
And only she can set him free
And then he says to me

Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now
Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now

Yeah she's got a criminal mind
He's got a reason to pray
His life is under the gun
He's got to hold every day

Now he just wants to wake up
Yeah, just to prove it's a dream
Cause she's an angel for sure
But that remains to be seen

Because heaven sends and heaven takes
Crashing cars in his brain
Keep him tied to a dream
And only she can set him free
And then he says to me

Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now
Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now

Stupid on the streets of London
James Dean in the rain
Without her it's not the same
But it's alright

Because heaven sends and heaven takes
Crashing cars in his brain
Keep him tied up to a dream
And only she can set him free
And then he says to me

Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now
Kill me now, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now

Again and again

i thought this song was about a girl who died in a car accident. thats why "she's got her halo and wings" but the guy thats in love with her can't believe shes really gone. heaven sends refers to when he met her and heaven takes is when she died... crashing cars in his brain is him replaying the accident in his head. the reference to james dean (who died in a car accident) and how shes "stupid on the streets" shows how she was wrecklessly driving when she died. he says "kill me now" cuz he wants to be with her.

This is one of my favorite songs by The Killers!

In my opinion, it's about a girl who he thought would be the love of his life, but she made a big mistake and dumped him. He was left so heartbroken and was still madly in love with her, despite knowing that she hurt him very badly (maybe cheating). Before she had a chance to realize the mistake she made or before he could confess he is still in love with her, she dies in a car accident and is left with the thought that he didn't do enough to get her back before he was too late. He is driven to the point of suicide just to be with her. "And only she can set him free" obviously means that the only thing that could have made him happy was her love.

The lyrics to The Killers are absolutely amazing. Can't wait for their new 2012 Album!!

This song is me. I do not think it's about a girl who cumped a guy and is now toying with him, but something a bit more complicated yet simple.

I think this is about a guy who dumped a girl for a reason like he didn't feel comfortable about one thing, then thought he realized what he had done, realized what a great relationship they had had. He is so conflicted and keeps trying to apologize and just go back to how things were, but she won't let him. The matter hangs in his mind always and never leaves, not even if he "moves on". He is almost cursed to love her forever, yet never find that true love again. He would rather die than live like this. Kill me now.

I love this site!!! I read it all the time as I find unusual interpretations in songs and always love to read other's opinions. Sometimes I agree, while most of the time I just read tons of other perspectives and I find it interesting.

In this case I am finding all these interpretations that I don't agree with, and then I stumble upon yours. The song is Under the Gun by The Killers.

I made the worst choice of my life and had a nervous breakdown and lost everything in my life. Then my relationship with my soul mate came...

this is one of the best songs ive ever heard, i love this song because i can relate to it. i think this song is about a guy who just got dumped by a girl he loved alot, and she broke his heart and is now just "toying" with him, and so now hes trying not to lover her any more but he just cant and its just driving him so crazy that he just cant deal with it any more and so he wants to die.

when the guy says "his life is under the gun" i think it means that he's on the verge of committing suicide, cuz like screen play wrote, the guy's gf died and he cant live with the pain

i sure do know how that feels...

i think this song is a guy talking to his friend about a girl. the guy thinks this girl is so great and everything, but time and time again he sees her in a way that makes him unhappy. he thinks she is something she is not. The girl will not live up to his high expectations. I think at one point he saw this girl in a good light, and thought great things about her, when it may have just been a one time thing and she really is not as good as that one time.

also-- he sees her as an angel, which she is not in reality. and there are two versions of this song that i have, one is crappy and with no emotion, the other is my favorite song ever.
