Little Ghost

i just heard an interview with jack&&meg, and jack said that it was about being in love with a girl, and seeing things that only you could see about her because you're in love with her. like, you would say to your other friends "oh, isn't she great? isn't she amazing?" and they would say "eh, yeah, she's okay". so it's about seeing things in a girl that other people can't see.

I didn't really read all the comments on this post but I skimmed them.

Does anyone else think that maybe Jack actually DID see a little ghost? Okay, here is what I perceived. In "White Moon", Jack sings about being in love with a ghost. He also mentions Rita Hayworth. He mentions Rita Hayworth again in "Take, Take, Take". Then there are various other hints (at least for me) in their songs and videos (particularly the "Blue Orchid" Video) and the cover of the album. Notice how they are standing there with their hands behind their backs possibly indicating that something else is there, such as a ghost.

And back to Rita Hayworth... Maybe the ghost is Rita Hayworth. This may sound totally crazy but it's just been going through my head and then I found this website.

Anyway, this song kind of creeps me out. Especially those random background vocals. SCARY! I usually skip it.

I agree with caleby, my friends laughed when I told them i like this song... But it really has something, I never heard anything similar, it's funny and sad in the same time.

And, of course, i like the way Jack and Meg sing about love, like nothing is impossible when "it comes to love"...

I heard an interview with Jack White talking about this song. He stated that it is about when you are in love with a girl, you see her in a way no one else does. You say things like, "She is sooo beautiful." and your friends say "Well, ya, sure, I guess so". You see her in a completely different way. He said he wrote it while house sitting for some friends for about 10 minutes!

this song is about a guy being so lonely that his mind creates the apparition of a beautiful young girl that he falls in love with. Hes not sure if she exists or not, but he is for sure that he's the only one who can see her (said several times)

There is a line that says "because of my condition". I interpreted the condition as insanity, meaning the ghost is entirely made up, and the guy is going crazy from lonliness

I think WeezDay is totally right... and I also think this song is cute as hell. Sounds like a harmless crazy guy to me. ^_^

I love this stupid little song way too much. It's so genius how it sounds so happy and yet it's really about quite a sad thing of some guy's imaginary "ghost" girlfriend (when taken literally at least). My favourite part is the slow part and then the triumphant "I fell in love with a little ghost and that is all" just after.
