it is about pete telling carl to forget about forever, choosing between drugs or a normal life,pete is stuck in carls mind,pete will have to pay due to contract he signed with alan mcgee which denies him royalties for his lyrics,glory only if he does as told,ie; be boring pop star,the newspaper joke.
Both political parties (new labour and tory) are mentioned in the song 'Fuck Forever' by Pete Doherty and the Babyshambles instantaneously making the song a political commentary upon society as we know it. His vehement tone and impassioned repetitions of phrase combined with the despairing lyricism, create a portrayal of a dystopian society that has condemned the 'happy families' to a purgatorial existence. Doherty laments a society devoid of 'happy endings' which cannot tell 'death from glory'. Doherty also protests against the censorship bans imposed upon countless artists: 'they make you toe the line'. The song is hugely ironic in the sense that the title is 'Fuck Forever'; the irony which Doherty buoys his resounding message upon: a complete and utter futility in attempting to express oneself. 'They'll never play this on the radio' screams Doherty over the dying music, thus exposing the hypocrisy of a society that brands itself a "Democracy".
I shamble when I hear this song, I love it.. keep connecting it to the Libertines song Likely Lads though - 'OH what became of the likely lads, what became of the dreams we had, oh what became of forever....' shiver. fuck forever. i don't like that. no.

It just makes me think about enjoying the day because you never know if it's your last. Not the most positive outlook admittedly, but it makes sense to me
to me it sounds like he is not a big fan of "only the sex is good so go on with that" -relationships. because they have no happy ending. he was never bored of happy endings. he would like to have one. at least.

No one else mentioned this, so I'm not sure it's significant: the "death and glory" line in the first verse. Mick Jones did produce this album, as well as both of The Libertines' albums, so this maybe an homage of some sort. Or it may be a nice coincidence.
This is a fantastic song, with a great opening...
If this is released as planned it'll be a huge anthem for years to come.

i love this song, especially the "im so clever" then the build up into "fuck forever." class lyrics again - pete is a genius. i also think that half the lyrics on this page are incorrect. no change there. :P
