Randy Scouse Git Lyrics

She's a wonderful lady
And she's mine, all mine
And there doesn't seem a way
That she won't come and lose my mind
It's too easy humming songs
To a girl in a yellow dress
It's been a long time since the party
And the room is in a mess

The four kings of EMI are sitting stately on the floor
There are birds out on the sidewalk
And a valet at the door
He reminds me of a penguin
With few and plastered hair
There's talcum powder on the letter
And the birthday boy is there

Why don't you cut your hair?
Why don't you live up there?
Why don't you do what I do,
See what I feel when I care?

Now they've darkened all the windows
And the seats are naugahide
I've been waiting for an hour
I can't find a place to hide
The being known as wondergirl
Is speaking, I believe
It's not easy trying to tell her
That I shortly have to leave

Why don't you be like me?
Why don't you stop and see?
Why don't you hate who I hate,
Kill who I kill to be free?

Why don't you cut your hair?
Why don't you live up there?
Why dodn't you do what I do,
See what I feel when I care?

Why don't you be like me? (She's a wonderful lady)
Why don't you stop and see? (And she's mine, all mine)
Why don't you hate who I hate, (And there doesn't seem a way)
Kill who I kill to be free? (That she won't come and lose my mind)
Why don't you cut your hair? (It's too easy humming songs)
Why don't you live up there? (To a girl in a yellow dress)
Why don't you do what I do, (It's been a long time since the party)
See what I feel when I care? (And the room is in a mess)

Crazy song but it is catchy. The part where he says 'the four kings' he is actually talking about the Beatles.

I'm not sure about that- It says the four kings of EMI the Beatles record co. was Capital and Apple.

Capitol's parent company is EMI. The liner notes on the "Listen to the Band" box set mention that Mickey made the song up the morning after the Beatles had thrown them a party.

In his book Micky explains it as a kind of free-association song about his experience of visiting Englad for the first time. "Wonderful lady" is his first wife, Samantha Juste. "Girl is Yellow dress" is a reference to Mama Cass Elliot. Micky didn't even know the meaning of the title words when he penned it!

it's actually quite self-explanatory.

they're obviously tired of being pushed around and after all they've done for these people (record companies, fans), they're still treated like the red-headed step child.

it's probably ONE of my favorite monkee songs.

i take it as a pretty pissed off song about record labels, and the distance between who the monkees were and who people expected them to be

Ahh! Record labels! That makes more sense. I always assumed it was about a guy who was totally henpecked all the time. Cuz the chorus seems very nag-nag-nag to me, and "the being known as wondergirl" (like a self-important woman who can't be contradicted.)

Because of the sexual innuendo of the name of the song, it was released as "Alternative Title" in the UK.

Micky Dolenz picked up the song title "Randy Scouse Git" from a insult used by Alf Garnett in the BBC sitcom "Til Death Do Us Part". Unfortunately he little idea what it meant but was asked by his record company in the UK to find an alternate title because it would offend in the country. He either couldn't or couldn't be bothered to come up with a new name for the song and eventually the alternate title stuck. "Til Death Do Us Part" was later re-made in the USA as "Keep It in the Family"

The American series was "All In the Family."

The song is set in a club where a party thrown by the Beatles to welcome the Monkees to England and it is winding down. There are birds out on the sidewalk are groupies, the 4 Kings of EMI are sitting stately on the floor is the Beatles. The wonderful lady is Samantha Juste, his first wife who he just met and Cass Elliot is the girl in yellow dress. The description of the title of the song is true in an earlier post. That much I know for sure. I think the why don't you cut your hair why don't you look up there is a lot about the establishment not liking the long haired hippies and wanting them to conform. The hate part could have a lot to do with the civil rights movement at the time. I know that McCartney wrote Blackbird after watching a black woman being beaten by police for sitting in a seat in the whites only section.
