Furniture Lyrics
Try, try, try to arrange me
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain
My father had a dozen wives
And a child by every one
I am from about, umm, number five
So don't expect me to stay with anyone
Try, try, try to arrange me
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain
My mother never takes a break
From her pining after furniture
Every moment on her feet is torture
And I share her love of wine and cake
And taking advantage of amateurs
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain
And a child by every one
I am from about, umm, number five
So don't expect me to stay with anyone
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain
From her pining after furniture
Every moment on her feet is torture
And I share her love of wine and cake
And taking advantage of amateurs

im the first? thats werid anyways i love this songs steady beat its so addicting i think its about not beleiveing in love that maybe love is just a theory that were all cuaght up in and he's not buying it. thats just my take sometimes i feel the same way
Every time I hear the opening lines "try to arrange me" I think of someone rearranging furniture because of the title. And then his father having a dozen wives - well trees have many different fertilizers, and most furniture is made from trees... "My tears fall with the rain" make me think of a chair in the rain haha.
i love the tears falling with the rain bit, because it's the perfect way to disguise them :P plus it's such a subtly sad line in such a carefree-sounding song
I looovee this song. Sometime's it's how I feel about romance...
To me, this song is about someone who hates his father, probably because he was somewhat of a womanizer or just enjoyed sleeping around. It sounds to me like he's very close to his mother, but because she was hurt by this man in some kind of short-lived relationship, he grew to feel like love isn't real or he shouldn't trust anyone
I love how he uses the term "Furniture" as some kind of metaphor. Furniture is so easy to just move around and make it do what you want, put it in any position and just use it. Kind of like how some marriages are.
