Ice On The Sheets Lyrics

Committing crimes and we're running down the alley,
I am the captain, you're in the galley.
I'm with this girl, she said that she was hungry,
we just got done swapping our IDs.

Ice on the sheets, look at the floor.
Soon as I can walk, I walk out the door and never stop.
Ice on the sheets, look at the floor.
As soon as I can walk, I walk out the door and never stop.

I'm look'n at an old photograph,
it looked like we took it at gunpoint so I, had to laugh.
Look at the ice, look at the floor.
Ice on the sheets and I'm on the floor,
I never stop.

A wholeness comes and you feelin a phenomenon,
I can't die, I just keep going on...
Got there and a brand new... (Unknown)
Don't want nothing but a band now, bad karma beside me.

Ice on the sheets, a week's worth of pay,
and all the Munadine, you got to where you look at your shoes
and you say, hey hey.
I'm out of breath, I'm out of wits,
I'm out of these every day of the week. Oh yeah.

Committing crimes and we're running down the alley,
I am the captain, you're in the galley.
I'm with this girl, she said that she was hungry,
we just got done swapping our IDs.

Committing crimes and we're running down the alley,
I am the captain, you're in the galley.
I'm with this girl, she said that she was hungry,
we just got done swapping our IDs.

Like back in the day where everywhere was the sticks.
They used to go to bars and they'd dance in lines and get sick.
You dance you dance and then you'd dance some more.
You put on your disco shoes and dance 'til there's holes in the floor.

Back in the days when they died their hair,
They still wouldn't dance in the lack of kids that cared.
Back in the days when they danced to death...
Back in the days when they banged their head...
There was dance and dace and being under (unknown)
(unknown) for drunk and we laughed.

The disco came and they did some coke.
They didn't have codine and the biggest joke...
Well their deaf, their fucked, they fucked, they fought, they faught they fuck.
And now (unknown) a little red lip stick, a red bra, and a cheap cheap trick,
and that's me.

I brung your kids to the house to the home to the schools,
In the bad place.
Yeah how long? You don't care they arn't yours.
They arn't saying, didn't know nothin but time is cheap.
I got rock now, I got a kid now, I got friends now.
How have you been? uh hu hu hu...

This song is about crystal methamphetamine. It references addiction -- "As soon as I can walk, I walk out the door and never stop"

After slamming meth, it seems as so he falls on the floor "Ice on the sheets and I'm on the floor; i never stop"

It also references the euphoric, energetic, and often restless feeling of the drug "A wholeness comes and you feel it, the phenomena. I can't die, I just keep growing old."

I believe it also somewhat cryptically references the usual disgust a tweaker has for food. He says, "I'm with the girl, she said that she was hungry. We just got done swapping our IDs" While those two statements don't hold much correlation to each other, you could almost see it as Isaac having regret for asking a girl out on a date (swapping ids) when he finds that she's hungry (most people on meth could vomit at the thought of food).

Last but not least, it references the expensive cost of the drug "Ice on the sheets, a week's worth of pay"

Awesome interpretation...i belive ALOT of Isaacs lyrics are about methamphetamines. And i belive some of his newer stuff is about recovering from drug addiction.

thanks for your post thats..thats awesome

Dude. I dont believe that there is a guy who calls himself "ugly casanova". So many of the lyrics from this album are too reminiscent of modest mouse. The talk of wedding cakes, ship, and boats, etc. I think Isaac Brock just didn't want to be criticized for doing a side project. From what i have gathered he does enjoy upper drugs. So its very possible that he sings about them. They are like a muse.

Its like when there is a picture of Kurt Cobain looking high, and people say he just looks tired. The man was addicted. He was probably high ALL OF THE TIME.

It doesn't actually make them bad people. In my opinion it makes the music more interesting to know that they are real people instead of those hollywood glitzy assholes that have flooded the music industry today.

This song is definitely about methamphetamine.

The part about the photograph they took "at gunpoint", well when you are scared your pupils get huge, think like a cats. So when you have huge pupils due to using a bunch of methamphets (stimulants widen the pupil while painkillers make them like pinpoints) you could also look like you are being held at gunpoint.

I think that part with Munadine is supposed to be "I'm on all day".

One thing I have been wondering is why Isaac used meth over coke, probably because it was cheaper..

@perfektdisguize nah, some people just actually prefer meth and it’s hella addicting.

the part about "i am the captain, you're in the galley" is also in modest mouse's song "dance hall" off good news for people who love bad news. also, the part "i'm look'n at an old photograph, it looked like we took it at gunpoint so I, had to laugh" is in "three-inch horses, two-faced monsters" off everywhere and his nasty parlour tricks ep.

by modestmousenirvana on 08-27-2007 @ 11:05:21 PM crystal meth and ice AREN'T THE SAME THING!!!! fuck... and i agree it IS about ICE not CRYSTAL METH. i think Ugly Casanova wrote this, not isaac. if you know who ugly casanova is you would know who i'm talking about.

Ice can be used to describe many similiar chemicals with very similiar effects. It's common to hear crystal meth referred to as ice. I don't think that Ugly Casanova/Edgar Graham is taken very seriously anymore. Besides Isaac has referenced it before in The Good Times Are Killing Me, something like "need more sleep than coke or methamphetamines."- that certainly wasn't edgar.

"A wholeness comes and you feelin a phenomenon, I can't die, I just keep going on..."

Great discription of amphetamine euphoria.
