Act II: All is Ash or the Light that Shines Through it

Okay, I don't want to insult anyone on here because we're all trying real fucking hard to figure this out, but I think there are definantely mistakes here. I read the lyrics while listening to the song and think a few things are off. Plus, I watched the live DVD a bunch of times, which helps provide some clarity. Below are the places I think are wrong, and my suggestions whenever I have them. A lot of parts I just think are wrong here but don't know what is right.

The opening line: "This box is lovely that I'm in" (In the story written in The Tiger and The Duke, its explained that a prisoner is locked in a box) and I think the final line of the opening part is "THere's no room left to grow"

Next, "You magnify the evidence." And it's def. not "correlates the angles." I think its "[unknown] reads the angles" either way, definantely not correlates.

I think the chorus is as follows: "We'll take back. It's time for relief. It's so hard leaving you here." (This part I am not sure of, but story wise, it relates to the sons overthrowing Noah who was leading them. This is part of the Tiger and the Duke story again.)

Next, and this line im 99.9999% sure of because I heard it on CD and then it was rather clear on the DVD. "Flesh is heretic My body is a witch I am burning it I can afford this switch"

The part that is written above: "For if I leave your empty smile explode into four And on the last I will for our eyes, one by one " is way way off. In fact, a close listening, and live listening lead me to believe that this is entirely wrong. I haven't picked up on much of it but two lines I know are there. First, it's not "explode into four" but "This wall is too far" and near the end I think he says something along the liens of "We're all led by you before God" [on the DVD he definantely says before God, not as sure on album] I am not sure entirely, but i am positive that he says "led by you" in the final line of this part.

Lastly, the part that says: "You're focused in the reason why I'm far beneath the answer You're acting like a separation" I think the only correct line is "You're acting like a seperation" but I am not positive on that either. In any instance, the first line of this part sounds a bit like "Your forfeit stained the reason why" but I am not positive. Also, the line "I'm far beneath the answer" is definantely wrong. I know he says something ending with "the answer" but it's not whats listed here.

Anyways, I am making guesses like the rest of us have done so far. But I have read the story of The Tiger and the Duke a few times again, and listened very closely multiple times to both the album and DVD. I wish someone could just meet Anthony and have him write down the lyrics. Geez.

This song is excellent. Very mysterious and catchy. My extreme gratitude for this band. i like that these guys draw infulence from the almighty "Mars Volta" and Anthony Green's old "Saosin", a perfect blend of hard core and crazy music. -I don't think the lyrics are all right, for example: "You may defy the evidence..." "This is heretic... My body is a witch..." which would explain why he's burning it and some other lines aren't quite right, but i don't know what they are. Thanks for posting it, though.

I think the beginning goes...

"This box is lovely, that I made. You may hope I hollowed every part out, and now, there's no room left to grow."

and the other part goes...

"When she's heretic, my body is a wage I am burning in, wake up for this wish. In our resume, I have seen my fate, I am sinking, oh captain I am sinking."

I may be wrong, but I gave it a try. lol. Thanks for posting the lyrics, most of them seem correct.

Im pretty sure the line goes

"flesh is heretic, my body is a witch... ...I am burning it... wake up for this switch."

that would make more sense.... if the flesh is heretic, then you could classify oneself as a witch...and of course, they would burn witches back in the day... i belieive if one confessed the sin, theyd b burned anyways, but the spirit would make a transition to something godly rather than sinful, for you have been forgiven....hence the switch...

therefore, with all the accumulated lyrics and corrections, i come up with:

This box is lovely, that I made. You may hope I hollowed every part out... and now, there's no room left to grow.

i love this song. and i am convinced that the screamer on the chorus is the same guy from Saosin. but the animal masks prevent me from confirming that i guess.

That part is from the poem "Anorexic" by Eavan Boland.

yes its anthony from saosin/circa survive...but good news: a new album is coming out this spring...and most likely wiht a lot more music on it...and also is expected to include the singer from chiodos, craig
