Hollow Lyrics
And you say your life was marked;
And you were wondering if it would ever start.
Stop.
Sunlight on a razorblade,
Three different souls and the lives they made.
I grew up in the 80s in the Pallisades,
I was listening to Devo.
And everybody catered to their needs,
We were voted most likely to succeed.
Holly came out and Billy got paid,
But Jenny got pregnant the first time she got laid.
And all my rage sits inside,
And even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
And all my days left behind,
And even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
Cut to an anterior view,
Holly married well, but so did you.
One was black, and one was blue,
I was watching the days go by.
Could you be seen as a silly dream?
Well Billy lives on Prozac and nicotine,
And Holly got her GED living in maternity
Nursing a broken heart for the love she lost.
And all my rage sits inside,
And even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
And all my days left behind,
And even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
And the sky is blue, and so are you.
Mary takes a drag off her cigarette,
And the stereo is coming up behind her
Like she needs something to remind her
That life is richer in a minor key--
You may hotly disagree, but I don't think so.
And all my rage sits inside,
and even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
And all my days are left behind,
and even the finest things are leaving you hollow.
Leaving you hollow.
Leaving you hollow, hollow, hollow, hollow. . .
Sunlight on a razorblade,
Three different souls and the lives they made.
Well Holly came out, and Billy got paid,
But Jenny got pregnant the first time she got laid.

Such a great song. Almost reminds me of A Lifetime. It kicked so much ass live! :-)
i think it's about searching for peace by filling your life with material things and coming up short. leaves you "hollow".
The irony of "all my rage..." set against such an upbeat melody creates a lot of tension. You can really hear the bitterness throughout the song. Reminds me of "The Kids Aren't Alright" by the Offspring.
This song talks about "three different souls and the lives they made" (Yet there are four people mentioned in the song, Holly, Billy, Jenny, and Mary.) It proves the point that sometimes even the finer things in life leave you hollow.
