From the 100th Floor Lyrics

From way up on the 100th floor the people look like nothing more than ants just bumping into one another.
If you grew up way too slow in a small town under snow then you get a little nervous around people that you never met.
I watch the players play their parts with eager wanting hearts.
Such an impressive cast of cunning improvisers.
Mister director tell me what's my cue.
Forgot my lines and what to do.
I'd be happy with some tape to stand on but no one bothered teaching me any songs.
So I stand here in the corner just humming along.
Welcome to my little bubble.
Don't want to cause no trouble.
Don't want no complications.
Not fond of confrontations.
Welcome to my little bubble.
I'm going to share it with ya.
I'm going to take your picture.
I'm going to put it in my wallet.

"Welcome to my little bubble" - I can relate a lot with this phrase. That's exactly how I feel about my life and the rest of the world.

Do you know how is to see the world from above? Or from 'outside'? People really look like nothing more than ants just bumping into one another. Even they looking like ants, sometimes you get a little nervous around them. Just like an ant biting your toe. You know it's nothing but you can't ignore it. Seeing the world from outside, people also look like actors playing their roles, doing anything to get what they want. Generally they really look like eagers hunting something. They seem to know what they are doing but the truth is, ironically, that they just act irracional, in a very predictable (and lame) way. Surrounded by them, without knowing how to act and totally dislocated, you start asking yourself (or god, or whatever) what's your cue in all this. So while waiting for 'your time', you just stay in the corner living life your way. Then you realize that it's not bad at all living in your own little bubble, not causing troubles, without complications and meaningless confrontations. And you are also waiting, ready to share this wonderful small thing with someone, ready to take a picture and put in your wallet, forever.

I'm here completing what I wrote more than one year ago because I realized that this song describes me. On this huge world, plenty of all kinds of people and things, at some point you realize that you don't need all of them to be happy. Your 'bubble' is much more confortable and real. Living simple for some people is the only way to have a beautiful and worthy life. I'm writing all this for one reason: someday in a near future (I hope) I'll play this lovely song to my lovely and still unknown wife on our marriage ceremony. 'Welcome to my little bubble' really is a romantic and sincere way to start sharing an entire happy life.

I think you nailed it. I always feel like there's these rigid social codes we have to follow or we are considered 'wierd' or 'crazy'. For example, it seems like a rule of human nature that a man who has success has to brag about it. Also, like you said, everyone does whatever it takes to get what they want. i often feel like an actor who doesnt understand these social rules and is waiting for a cue. But you know what? The best characters in movies are the ones who are different from everybody else. Why do we root for a Napoleon Dynamite (for lack of a better example)? He doesnt do what people expect him to do. He's different. Keep being yourself gustavo. and that would be a great wedding song. good choice.
