Legendary

One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I am in love with this song - the lyrics, the music, the vocals...it's perfect.

It definitely sounds like his girlfriend has broken up with him, and he's putting on a brave front when really he's dying inside. It sounds like he's questioning all he could have done, all he could have said, what they really had, is it worth the tears, etc. Though it could very well have been about a friend's suicide too.

The song isn't about a breakup. Lou wrote it about a friend of his who had died. He explained that and the story behind it when he performed this song at a tribute concert for Elliott Smith. So it's about the death of a friend and trying to deal with their passing.. it was a suicide, like Elliott's .. that's where the line, "Reenact your legendary tragedy, Do to me what has been done to you" comes in. The lyrics make a lot more sense if you look at it that way, rather than a break up. Anyway, hope that clears things up for you guys.

beautiful song...i take it as either someone's broken up with him and he's thinking about why and how he should deal with it....or (as i thought of today) someone close to him has killed themself and he's wondering why they did it, and what they were feeling etc. hmm, just a thought...

this song is probably one of the most beautiful ones i've ever heard. it really reminds me of a recent "breakup" i had with my best friend. it was exactly like the song. wow i just love it so much

this song just gets better and better with every time i hear it. it has this melancholic mellow yet somewhat powerful feel to it... "Smiling through denial, my specialty I thought that was a good thing for awhile" i think i'm in love with this song.

this song is super meaningfull to me

recently, a guy just ended it with me. and this a point of view i take from this song.

that this guy (the singer) is going through a break up with this girl, who was using him. she was using him because she had recently been hurt and she needed to have someone that she could like get revenge? heal her self you know? but liek this guy he knew it all along...he wnet along with it because he wanted her so much so he makes himself believe that she loved him. hes trying to convince himself something he knows is not real, becuase he has to. because thats the only way he can go on. he denies to everyone else he cares about her all...but inside, hes dying.

this is such a great song. sounds amazing and the lyrics could not be more touching. i'd put in my favorite lines but they're all brilliant.

The first line is wrong.. it should be:

and it's: "Until then I'll be trying to solve YOUR mystery"
