Mucky Fingers Lyrics
I know you think you deserve an explanation of the meanings of life,
But what you think that you heard
stepped away out the back of your mind
You get your mucky fingers burned,
You get your truth from the lies you were learned
and all you plastic believers still leave us, said they won't return
and when you look in that mirror and you're tying up your buttons and bows
and as you face your disease you can squeeze into the emperor's clothes
You found you got in a paper back
you get your history for the union jack
and all your brothers and sisters are gone
and they won't come back
fed up with life in the city,
'cause all the phonies are on my mind
when I’m gone yea you look like you'll miss me
so come along with me, but don’t ask why
'cause its alright
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right
'cause it's alright
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right
But what you think that you heard
stepped away out the back of your mind
You get your mucky fingers burned,
You get your truth from the lies you were learned
and all you plastic believers still leave us, said they won't return
and as you face your disease you can squeeze into the emperor's clothes
you get your history for the union jack
and all your brothers and sisters are gone
and they won't come back
'cause all the phonies are on my mind
when I’m gone yea you look like you'll miss me
so come along with me, but don’t ask why
'cause its alright
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right
it's all right

This song rocks...plain and simple. Didn't like it that much first listen but it grew on me...which was a good sign as most Oasis songs that I love usually take a few listens for me to really love (Supersonic, Acquiese, Rock 'n' Roll Star) so it's a promising return to form :)
@ jcphoenix.. i totally agree..
He's proved once again he has a knack for a master tune. Seems like hes moaning about life in London here?
jcphoenix, you gotta listen to it drunk. i'm sure it how oasis would have wanted. i love this band.
@ijohnnyz...hahah i should've thought of that this weekend, may 2-4 here in canada.
This is Oasis' worst song. No doubt. Compared to this, The Swamp Song is a masterpiece...
Noel's vocals are really good here great song sounds like Dylan
Bit of a blatent rip off of I'm Beginning To See The Light by The Velvet Underground but frankly I just don't care. A brilliant song from a brilliant album.
I'm Waiting For The Man even!*
The album certainly is quite good, and this is one of the best tracks. I'd bashed it before, but nonetheless I guess "Don't Believe The Truth" is a grower. For me, the songs are best when you're actually listening to them.
As for the meaning... well, it's apparently modeled after Bob Dylan, so probably it has no actual meaning, but the word "phonies" suggests "Catcher In The Rye," and certain other bits help it out, but it's too upbeat. So it has no meaning.
